IR salary question

I was playing madden the other day and noticed that when you put a player on the IR, their salary no longer counts against that years salary cap. Obviously in the NFL that player would still be paid, but does that money count against the cap? If not, that would give us a lot more flexibility in signing a back-up tackle. Someone decent is bound to get cut somewhere.

My thoughts? Take whomever you can from Denver or Atlanta. At the very least they'll have some experience.

Yes, players on IR count against the cap.
