The CBA is all but complete. Need a schedule? http://prod.static.packers.clubs.nfl...l_schedule.pdfI can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud

Goodell is a goon. I don't even get why the NFL needs the squeaky clean image it strives for. These are football players!Originally posted by retailguy View PostNot me. That jackass got us the last CBA. What a fucking mess that turned out to be. Tagliabue had no balls, that's just as big of a problem as someone with too many balls. Goodell is tougher than he needs to be because he's got to bring the ship back a ways from the mess he was left. I have some direct experience with that so I understand. Getting criticized is part of the job and I'm certain he doesn't care.
Tabs, IMO, was a great Commish.

Money. He doesn't want just football fanatics watching NFL football. He wants families watching NFL football. The image of the league can also be important to certain TV sponsors. I also thing he's genuinely concerned about the issue of player concussions, as the players get ever bigger and faster.Originally posted by Tarlam! View PostGoodell is a goon. I can still somewhat understand the criticism of the comish although not with the manner in which it was expressed, but you'd like a guy to publicly criticize the competence of his teammates? And not just the third string holder, but the starting QB & RB?Originally posted by Tarlam! View PostKinda makes me wish Harrison was a Packer.

Money and lawsuits. The League cannot afford to be reactive to head injuries. The list of potential litigants would be long.Originally posted by Tarlam! View PostNolo contendere
And I am not buying Goodell > Tagliabue. Tags secured nearly 20 years of labor peace and growth. The complaining didn't start until Goodell was seated with strong backing from Kraft.
Not coincidentally, Goodell was instrumental in the NFL allowing teams to secure their own licensing deals, even ones that competed against league-wide deals. That spawned a huge source of revenue that teams could keep for themselves (at the time) AND the fight in 2006 to include that new and substantial revenue source in the CBA.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Harrison did raise an interesting point about guaranteed contracts and fear of injury. I am not sure I buy the knee versus head injury fear, but it definitely raises interesting questions since there is little doubt behaviors would change. However, if the NHL finals were indicative of the recent past, it doesn't seem to have solved the problem there.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs.
