I found it interesting that GB had four on the list. I know that a lot of people here don't like Florio (I do). But I thought it was interesting nonetheless. 25% of the "most likely to be cut" defensive players (in one man's opinion) are from one team. The Super Bowl Team.

Jolly is kinda duh...assuming he is allowed to play.
The 3some of Chillar, Barnett, Poppinga is a weird scenario. Barnett might volunteer for special teams for all we know. I wouldn't be shocked to keep any or all or 2 of them. I think health and performance in camp will determine those guys. As for Harrell....he is relatively cheap and if he is healthy they will milk him for what they can imo.The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

Financially it will probably still make sense for the Packers to keep Harrell and at least see if he can play.
I think Poppinga's as good as gone. And it'd be interesting to see how Nick Barnett would handle not starting - and I don't think he would, so my guess is he'll be gone."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

I thought I read where the Packers would save over one million on the cap if they cut Harrell and they are over the cap now. Count him as good as gone."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

yep, fresh legs and we know he can play in the NFL. No huge reason to cut him unless some young guys impress. Although, just like RB (and my argument with Grant) ILB in the NFL really drop off at 30. Not sure what Barnett will look like coming in.Originally posted by retailguy View PostI think he has a chance to stay. How does Justin Harrell even make that list? Sure he might be cut, but for how little he has played, is it really news that he might be cut? When all is said and done, I suspect there will be quite a few cuts of more significance than Harrell. Same for Poppinga. So a veteran backup linebacker might be cut. Big deal.
If the Packers hadn't won the SB, Barnett and Jolly might have made the list of 16 because of being recent starters; but Harrell, Poppinga and Chiller? I doubt it. No one should care.

Traded? Sure, that could happen if we get something of need or a great draft choice. Cut? Again, I'm not convinced. I think they keep him before they cut him, IF he's fully healthy, which he should be.Originally posted by vince View PostThere has been a report by one of the NFLN guys that the Packers have shopped Barnett. If they can trade him, I think they will, whether that's before or during camp.

I think they'll cut him if they can't trade him, but they'll get something for him - even if its a low pick. He's too expensive and a potential malcontent riding the pines.Originally posted by retailguy View PostTraded? Sure, that could happen if we get something of need or a great draft choice. Cut?
