I think his shoulder is messed up. He was "Out(Shoulder)" a lot, so that might mean he needs surgery.

"A guy needs surgery, and will be out a number of weeks" is a plausible reason for putting someone on IR, last time I checked.

I think Cards had 5TEs at their 53 yesterday... doesn't mean anything yet as they'll make more moves.

Keep in mind that Jones is probably the best cover OLB on the team. He unfortunately hasn't shown much else, but he's natural in coverage.

Dalton might also benefit from a year on the bench. Is he pegged as the starter there?
True. I also think you could add the Jaguars to the list of places Flynn could start.

It's also likely that at least one of the LBs is first on the "cut next" list in case there's an OL they like that makes it to them on waivers.

I think Garrard is better than Flynn right now, and Gabbert will likely be better than Flynn in a year. No chance he starts in Jacksonville. The Jaguars have average quarterback play already, which is probably Flynn's ceiling.

Thanks, Vince. As always, I based my analysis upon keen observation, a close eye on the 3-cone drill and shuttle times, and a cool name. Mostly the cool name.

                  • Wow... Brad Jones, the Invisible Man, makes the team, but Chastin West nor Tori Gurley make it. That's just weird to me.

I see Lattimore made it, too. I thought they'd try to PS him.

Here in Detroit, where they're looking for defensive backs, running backs, and back up receivers, I see Brandon Saine, Anthony Levine, and West and Gurley all to be of interest. But I'll bet most of those guys will be of interest to a number of teams that are in the waiver line in front of the Lions.

You just need to teach him to cough, scream or wince at the right moment. Bingo, IR.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

                      • If Sitton misses a game, Bulaga will need to move over and let Newhouse play tackle. I would imagine they are looking for a Guard somewhere.

Brad Jones may be active on game days, and he may actually play on defense if healthy... since he can cover. The sixth WR probably isn't even a game day active and would never play anything other than special teams barring several injuries.

Keep in mind that our #5 WR last year only had 9 targets as a receiver. If you're going to have a guy on the roster to mostly play special teams, when it comes to comparing two core special teamers you have to give the edge to the guy who may actually make an appearance on offense or defense.

                          • Jones had 4 sacks in 7 games in 09. He could be a 7-8 sack per year starter. He's a slippery pass rusher. His college youtube clip showed a natural pass rusher and he brought it to the NFL too. I remember the coaches and scouts calling him slippery or natural or something like that.

He covers well too. Smart. Good guy. 3rd down LB maybe?

Weird camp for him. He didn't stand out, but I don't remember him blitzing either.

Other than Harrell and McDonald out and Lattimore in, it's pretty much as expected. It's good to see TT was able to trade a couple guys for soem picks. Bring on the season baby.

Dominguez and McDonald are likely to the PS if they clear waivers, along with Harrell I'd say.

Jones might well be #53 on the Roster right now, and I really believe that the Packers would like to pick up another interior OL whether through Waivers or if there's a veteran who's willing to be a backup for a contender. So I don't think he's safe yet.
