  • OFFICIAL WEEK ONE GAME DAY THREAD....NO SAINTS VERSUS DA GREEN BAY PACKERS

    And rumble we will.

Truth be told this is the best NFL opening game in years.
It's the best two teams in the NFC playing week one

What a great kickoff on so many levels.

We have the champ of two years ago....constantly going through an Anti GB roster like turnover filling holes with veterans veruse the current champ building through superior drafting and internal development of it's own.

We have the team who spend the most time on voluntary workouts in the offseason....vs....the team who spend no voluntary time practicing together while the players were duking it out with the owners

We have the guy who wanted the GB job versus the guy who got the GB job. Both seem to be offensive geniuses of their own.

And we're going against the DC who had made GB his bitch in past matchups.

And we've got Brees versus Rodgers. What an unbelievable matchup.

No need to expect the unexpected on this one. Expect a very entertaining game and expect a shootout. On offense expect the Packers to try to spread out New Orleans and abandon the run, which we're not good at anyways. Expect to see plenty of no huddle offense in an attempt to throw off the NO DC's bring the house mentality.

And expect to see a lot of Clay Matthews double teams and an inconsistent and minimal pass rush. The Packerrat community willl be very stoked for this game, and then reality will whack you all upside the head when we figure out that Cullen Jenkins did have a lot of value in our defense, and CJ Wilson, Jerry Winn, and their subpar filll ins will allow Drew Brees to have a picnic as he rips through our D.

We often don't start out fast with MM and today will be no exception. Sean Payton is an offensive genius and will expose our holes. Both offenses are going to light up the fireworks.....but NO will be more ready. Note to GB.....player workouts in the offseason do have value.

Prepare to be HeartBroken. Not even Kid Rock can save this day
NO will be more game ready, they will outcoach us, and the PR community will fall heavy into a deep depression.

Nicely done, sir. Keep the whammy alive all season long!

    Here's what I'm thinking:
    - 1st few series will not be pretty -- lots of hype and excitement -- people will have to settle down
    - The GB defense will need a few games to get in sync and will give up some yards/points - but is ultimately better than the Saints and will win the game for GB
    - AR will throw for 250 yards and 2 TDs
    - Grant/Starks should share 18 carries for 90 yards and 1 TD

This will be a close game and come down to wire - what a way to kickoff the season.
Here's hoping we can live up to it!

Packers O linemen got together in the offseason.

AR goes off with Finley and Nelson for 327 and 4 tds and NO doesnt have a chance.

Saints are gonna take this one because they worked together in the off season. They put all the time in while the Super Bowl Champs rested on past accomplishments.

Yep. Unsupervised practices on high school football fields in June are what win championships.

Those workouts also make Roman Harper and their CBs capable of covering all our offensive weapons.

Assuming we don't have a boatload of TOs, we win. Mark it down.

I'm about to hit my 4k milestone. Might have to wait until tonight!

Unsupervised? what are they 8 year olds? These are professional athletes I think they might have an idea what they are doing. They have been prepared since May. Packers can't even get their offense going without running no huddle in preseason.

You should get the next shot at the whammy. Fantastic post that I hope/think is complete bullsh*t.

You can say this about most games, but I think this game comes down to who gets to the quarterback.

The Packers have too many options, but the Packers secret weapon may be Starks coming out of the backfield.

Maybe. Maybe not. It will be interesting a real matchup of the practicers vs the layabouts. We will see if all that hard work at Hoover Middle School pays off for the Saints.

Should be interesting -- both teams should have new wrinkles and schemes.

Packers start quickly. Saints close the gap. Packers finish at end with a 10+ point victory.

I actually think it will be a relatively low scoring affair in the low 20s. Defenses always start stronger than offenses even with a full offseason. However, with two prolific offenses, it will be higher scoring than a defensive game when scores end up in the 10s range. With the truncated offseason and the emphasis on passing defenses winning in the long run, I'll take the Packers for a tight victory. There may be a let down after last year, but New Orleans didn't exactly have a great defense at shutting down the pass last year...

I don't see how the hell anyone can pick against the champs. At home, big stage, championship banner getting busted out. Sounds like "Whodat" will end up wondering where "deyat" after they get rolled on.

Just read that the home team on the opening Thursday night game is 7-0.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.
