TT is a Packer GM legend! Stubby a great teacher & calls good games when it counts...I guess Stubby doesn't kick in gear until midseason when it comes to playcalling.Originally posted by Harlan Huckleby View PostI think the Carolina coordinators outcoached the packers today. I thought Carolina was very well prepared and had the upper hand early. I thought the Packers adjusted pretty well though as the game went on. Defensively, I think the Packers decided to stop the Carolina running game and gamble that Newton couldn't beat them. If so, they were right even though they gave up a lot of yards.Originally posted by Harlan Huckleby View PostI think the Carolina coordinators outcoached the packers today. Offensively, I thought Rodgers was a little off, and the O-Line had 4 holding penalties. Not sure you can pin that on the OC. It did seem that the Packers were having trouble getting anyone open in the 1st half. that did seem to improve as the game went on though.I can't run no more

m3 learned during the game today that that one funky thing actually works. you know, when you run a few times and gain some yards then you fake the hand off and throw for big yards
i can't remember what its called, its been so long since i've seen us use it

I think it's called run action I-Pass.[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

Isn't it sort of dishonest to fake like you're going to run the ball and then throw it? What ever happened to sportsmanship?I can't run no more

They played a lot of base 3-4 early, I think this was a part of the game plan early. What changed was coverage on the TEs, which is one reason why the WRs got so much play late.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostI thought Carolina was very well prepared and had the upper hand early. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I don't think much changed on this front. They ran 16 times versus 30 pass attempts (this doesn't include sacks). And McCarthy has run play action enough before to prompt some in this forum to wonder why bother when the run isn't working.Originally posted by red View Postm3 learned during the game today that that one funky thing actually works. you know, when you run a few times and gain some yards then you fake the hand off and throw for big yards

But what did change is that the run game seems to be functioning (minus one Clifton non-block) and the fact that Carolina couldn't stop the run well at all.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

i would like to bring up the two horrible roughing the passer calls in the game today.
i almost shit myself when i saw the replay of bishops hit. he hit cam about a tenth of a second after he released the ball, hit him with his shoulder right in the gut. that is a perfect hit
and then there was the greg hardy hit on rodgers, this one might have been even worse then the bishop call, all i could think was that it was a make up call
i think the nfl is at a point where they should put the red jersies on the qb's and not let anyone get within a 2 yard halo of him at any time

i think its the jennings td drive i'm thinking of. we started out with 2 or 3 nice runs, then wham, bomb down the middle to a wide open receiverOriginally posted by pbmax View PostI don't think much changed on this front. Gotcha. It all makes more sense when the running game works.Originally posted by red View Posti think its the jennings td drive i'm thinking of. we started out with 2 or 3 nice runs, then wham, bomb down the middle to a wide open receiverBud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. I was gonna start a whole thread about this topic. But maybe there isn't much more to say.
I just saw the same call in the New England game.
All the defenders are doing is tackling the damn QB in the midsection. They are not late hits. They arive a fraction of a second after the ball is released.
What the hell is the rule? It is a huge, random penalty for nothing. Infuriating. How are the pass rushers supposed to attack the QB, they can't know exactly when the ball will leave. Terrible. Worst change in football.
