Raw stats say Woodson got 8 takles 1 assist. However watching teh game showed he was even more of a presence, solo stuffing peterson for a loss, pressuring Ponder once, making receivers pay for making a catch. I saw at least one pass defended. He was on top of his game last night.

In a 45-7 total domination of the Vikings at Lambeau Field, Woodson blitzed as much as he has in any game and in so doing helped Matthews to get the one-on-one situations he desired. Woodson came from the slot, the middle, the edge and just about every other spot between the lines.

Asked if that was what he was suggesting when he said Matthews needed some pressure taken off him, Woodson said, "That's exactly what I was talking about."

Maybe Woodson's greatest contribution occurred before the game was even played.

Yeah. Capers seemed to unleash the demons last night. Capers always says he won't run it if he can't trust it. If the players want to be set free, it's up to them.

Reliable defense isn't exactly a given in the NFL. In fact, it seems like a rarity. I imagine it gets boring to just do your job play after play after play without much flexibility. If big plays aren't coming, it probably gets frustrating. One thing I heard that always stuck with me was from Harry Sydney. Great football is doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way and then letting the playmakers loose. Woodson and Matthews are his jokers. Bishop is turning into one too.

Offenses are smart. If one guy is out of place, that's where they go. Over and over and over, the offense wins their battle. Once everyone gets on the same page and the playmakers are let loose. Those guys just being where they're supposed to be. . . . Well, the playmakers are being avoided, the regular guys are in their spot. . . . the offense only has bad choices and those regular guys are right where they're supposed to be to make the play. Everyone wins. Everyone makes plays. Everyone has fun. One missed assignment on each play and everyone loses.

Capers puts it on them to get steady, they work hard to get there and now it's unleashed.

And holy cow, it was fun to listen to the guys after the game. They had so much fun out there. . . . That's why I'm fan.

I think it al depends on his confidence in the man coverage of Shields and Williams, and whether the safeties can communicate. Given that both Shields and Williams appear to be back at full strength, and due to the fact that the Vikings don't have any wide receivers, I'm betting Capers felt pretty comfortable leaving those guys back there in a lot of single coverage. Peprah and Burnett screwed up a couple of zone drops against the tight ends, but otherwise they were solid.

Yeah. That seems to be it. . . . If those two safeties can get it cleaned up over the next 7 games. . . . .If Neal can take the next 8 or 9 weeks and get close to 100%. . . . We could be in position to dominate through the playoffs again. Improvement is probable; just how much. . . . That might tell the tale of this season.

I know this is off topic, but I'm really interested in seeing who matches up with Megatron. I have to imagine it'll be Tramon with safety help over the top on most plays. I doubt Woodson has the speed left to cover him effectively.

I could see a mix up between the two. Tramon a little more, but the way megatron plays, he's usually off the line so he can get a clean release. . . . The downside of a big guy is they're not as quick. If they're on the line, against a good man corner, they can get disrupted. Woodson is pretty special playing that off coverage. Better than Williams. With help over the top, he might be a good matchup for Megatron. Stafford will force it and Wood is the best in the buis at baiting a QB into a pick.
