I'm sure they try to get speed...speed just ain't coming to play in Madison.
It's such a GOOD feeling...13 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

    • Well... made the Rose Bowl - again. Haven't watched highlights/etc - few questions?

      - Was that a safety? (why did we call a timeout to challenge - or was it not reviewable - that timeout really hurt us)
      - missed FG hurt (add 3 and 2 for safety and the last drive is a FG to win)
      - can't believe how fast Oregon was and how quick they scored.
      - Why not run it 2 on 3rd/4th and 1

Oregon fans > TCU fans. Great day, tailgaiting.

Lots of sad Badger fans at LAX right now...
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.

Not with the shitty DC they have in WI. The whole staff needs to go on that side of the ball.
All hail the Ruler of the Meadow!

It wasn't a safety. At least from all available TV camera angles.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

          • The Badgers played a hell of a game....lucky bounces...or non bounces win games sometimes. What I don't understand is why try and spike it at the end with 2 seconds on the damn clock? Don't risk it and throw the damn ball....stupid IMHO.

With 2 seconds left, there is no way to get that off unless Wilson watches him while under center. The moment his arm twitches, he needs to call a one word snap and then spike. You cannot count on a slow clock operator and you can't wait for the whistle (for instance, what if the official moves his arm a half second before blowing the whistle?).

You would need to practice a limited time quick spike OR be able to call a hail mary play on the fly.

Or stop using your timeouts like they are Tic Tacs.

ya, this is the really valid criticism. BB used a timeout early in the half on a first down play - didn't like formation. Better to take a delay of game penalty there than burn a precious timeout in close game. And the second timeout was a pure brain fart.

I've defended BB because the team was well prepared, motivated and executing a good game plan. His "game management" overall is not bad, but he blew the timeouts. Again.

                • Another thing that kills me, but this happens in the pros as well, is how players are not clock aware about when or if to go out of bounds. Its not fair to lay the blame for this on Jared A., all he needed to do once he picked up a first down was get OOB. There is nothing to be gained from an extra yard or two at the expense of a dozen seconds or a TO.

                  • Congrats to Oregon, they are a very good team and its great to see them win it after 100 years of futility.

Two personal gripes with the game.

                    1) Oregon's lineman should have been called for holds about 10 different times that I saw; it could be more than that in total. Either that or you can now hook a defender that has beat you by wrapping your arm around them. If that is the case, then the one holding call they did make was not a hold.

                    2) If you are going to change a ruling on the field, you should make it clear to the players and coaches that the ruling is being overturned. Thus, when one official clearly and unquestionably signals that the play is out of bounds and the clock is stopped, any decision to overrule this call must be made very clear to everyone. You don't just signal for the clock to start again without clearly notifying both teams. There is no reason to be looking at the officials once the call is made (unless teams now need to expect every call to be reversed at any time and without warning). Terrible job in a crucial situation.

                    • I have a question about the game last night. Late in the 2nd quarter Toon got out of bounds but the game clock didn't stop and it took a few seconds before BB realized he had to burn another time out. What is up with that? They said it was because he wasn't going forward when he went out??? I thought if you go out at any time the clock stops no matter what direction you are going - or is this just in college???

Guessing: His forward progress had been stopped and the whistle was blown before he reached OOBs.

it was a terrible call IMO

What made it even worse, if you look at the replay....is one ref signaled him being out of bounce and the other wound the clock
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

is it possible to determine which ref made their signal first? My guess is the "clockwinding" offical was blowing his whistle and reacted first.

                              Here is the JS explanation

The issues with the officials cropped in each half.

UW lost 13 seconds on its final possession of the first half and thus lost an opportunity to try for a go-ahead score.

Jared Abbrederis returned the kickoff 21 yards to the UW 34, and the Badgers had 25 seconds and three timeouts. Quarterback Russell Wilson hit Nick Toon for a 5-yard gain on first down and it appeared Toon made it out of bounds because the clock was stopped with 19 seconds left.

However, after the clock was stopped, the referee signaled the clock to start again. That caught the UW players and coaches off-guard and they finally called a timeout with six seconds left.

Bielema asked the officials for an explanation, but the play stood and Montee Ball then gained 4 yards on the final play of the half.

"We saw the play go out of bounds; the officials signaled it," Bielema said.

When that happened, Bielema began talking on his headset to assistant Charlie Partridge, who oversees the kickers. The plan was to get into field-goal range for Philip Welch, who had hit from 62 yards in warm-ups.

"During that time they started to run the clock," Bielema said. "By the time I got back over and called the timeout, whatever it was, six seconds. They were trying to tell me the clock didn't stop, and obviously, it stopped at some point and burned that off."
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

                              • HERE WAS THE OTHER ROAST JOB AS BB SAW IT

The UW coaches wanted to see if the ball had crossed the plane of the goal line.

"Basically what happened was, I know his foot touched the line," Bielema said. "It gets down to an issue of where the ball is. I was trying to get a read from my sideline official if we could review forward momentum. He didn't understand the question where I was at, and that's why they charged me a timeout."

Because UW had burned a timeout four plays earlier when the staff recognized the Badgers weren't aligned properly, the Badgers were left with just one timeout for the final 25:45 of the game.
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER
