I would like to keep him until someone better comes along. I said this about Lee in the offseason. If we can't replace Lee yet...All tyrannies rule through fraud and force, but once the fraud is exposed they must rely exclusively on force.

He won't be that cheap, we already saw that the last time he was re-signed - someone (Indi?) made him an offer and we were forced to match it. I think he makes pretty good coin even now.Originally posted by Upnorth View PostResign if cheap. Great on special teams which is important, but can let go if a good gunner who plays db better comes along.--

Agree, but additionally, it will test M3 if coaches like Philbin, Moss and/or Clements get poached.Originally posted by Old School View PostThis is where TT's genius will be put to the test. At some point he will not to be able to resign all the players that the Packers have develpoed. How he picks and chooses will go a long way toward determining if a multi year run for the SB will be possible.

Green Bay is a dream job for any coach with talent right now. M3 will have good choices.Originally posted by Tarlam! I think it was Tennessee; but honestly it wasn't too rich of a contrct. Keep him if he's cost effective.Originally posted by Guiness View PostHe won't be that cheap, we already saw that the last time he was re-signed - someone (Indi?) made him an offer and we were forced to match it. Both these guys have failed to develope and if I know my TT (and I think I do) he won't waste a roster spot on them next season. Its out with the middle aged guys who never developed and in with the young ones who might.Originally posted by Upnorth View PostI would like to keep him until someone better comes along. It was 3 years, 4.5 mil with a 1 mil bonus. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/41333162.htmlOriginally posted by Bretsky View PostI think it was Tennessee; but honestly it wasn't too rich of a contrct. Keep him if he's cost effective.
Probably will take 2-2.5 mil to keep him. I'd do it.I can't run no more

The players like him, IIRC. A few have stepped up in support over the years.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostI'd do it.
At the end of the day, only 3 possibley 4 spots are guaranteed to specialists on ST's: K, P, LS and maybe PR/KR.
Some teams have K for kick offs only! Heck, anyone remember when the Packers had 2 Ps? My football knowledge is far to lacking to judge if "gunner" has a major impact and if it needs to be a specialist.

Someone mentioned that Lee and Bush are the best gunner tandem in the league and while I haven't studied gunners much lately, I find that to be a believable claim. I don't know what that's worth, but it's not a lot. I bet M.D. Jennings and Davon House could do it OK too with some practice.
Bush's biggest problem is he just seems to find his way onto the field too much on defense. I'd let him walk this time if he gets any offer at all, though I'd take him back if there turns out to be no market for him. Someone will probably throw him a bone or two to play nickel. I hope it's a team on the Packers schedule next year.
