  • Packers' new OC

    The Packers have announced Tom Clements as their new OC. The next question is now who will be the QB coach? Can he do both?

    MM is all three...head coach, OC, and QB's coach.

      McAdoo will become QB coach, and they will bring in a new TE coach, or maybe give it to Hilgenberg.

          With his air it out cfl background I don't think we will be running the ball more this year, sorry bobblehead.

            They have to make a hire here. A big part of the QB coaches job is to be a buffer btw the HC and the QB. The QB coach will also be responsible for getting Harrell ready for the back-up job. I didn't realize McAdoo was ready for this job, but it wouldn't surprise me if he got it.

              Some have even suggested that McAdoo would get serious consideration for OC in GB or maybe with Philbin. Rumored to be a very fast rising coach, with aspirations to be a head coach.

                Interesting commentary about Clements as OC in Buffalo;

                In Clements’ first season as the offensive coordinator in Buffalo, the Bills increased their scoring output by 152 points and reduced their number of sacks allowed from 51 to 38, the fewest by the club since 1999. In 2005, QB Kelly Holcomb set a club record with a 67.4 completion percentage, surpassing Jim Kelly’s mark of 64.1 in 1991.

                  GREAT NEWS; he will be a great fit with Russell Wilson after Green Bay drafts him
                  TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

                    If Clements had that kind of impact as the OC of the Bills, why has he been working as GB's QB coach for so long?

                          Clements lost his job when Buffalo fired their entire coaching staff the same year MM came to GB. As I recall, Clements was MM's last hire because he had interviewed for some OC positions, and he was waiting for decisions. When he didn't get any of those, he came to GB. Since then, the Bears wanted to interview him for OC, and MM denied permission. Don't know if that happened with any other teams or not. Clements was also one of the finalists interviewed for head coach at Notre Dame a few years ago, but didn't get it. I think he was considered for Penn State this year.

                          Might be just an issue of timing. If his contract had been up when the Bears were interested (most assistants operate under 2 year contracts) he might have been gone a while ago.

                            Who would be surprised if Rich Gannon became the QB coach?
                            "I would love to have a guy that always gets the key hit, a pitcher that always makes his best pitch and a manager that can always make the right decision. The problem is getting him to put down his beer and come out of the stands and do those things." - Danny Murraugh

                              As long as you are considering former MVP QBs for the QB Coach, I know of one who is not currently working and knows the team......oh never mind....
