If he fell that far, I would thoroughly enjoy that pick. Pickett won't live forever and a Poe Raji front would be sexy.Originally posted by smuggler View PostBased on this site, BPA will probably be Dontari Poe, who I am sort of crushing on."You're all very smart, and I'm very dumb." - Partial

Why, because he ran real fast? I don't see how a 40 time for defensive linemen is going to move a guy 2 rounds in a draft, I think he would be a value in the late second and into the 3rd round. I wouldn't call him fat for a guy at 350 pounds but he didn't look real athletic, he kind of walks with his toes pointed out like a duck.Originally posted by smuggler View PostBased on this site, BPA will probably be Dontari Poe, who I am sort of crushing on.

Why am I crushing on him, or why does the site have him listed at 28 overall?
I'm crushing on him because he's a huge guy who's not all flab, who can run and is pretty quick. The only downside is he's not long.
I assume the site has him 28th overall based on some form of subjective analysis, which includes his nice 40 time. Actually, not. They still have RG3 going 4th overall to the Browns. Everyone knows that will not happen, so (the Mock at least) hasn't been updated since the Combine.
It's academic anyway, since Poe will almost certainly not make it past the Texans, who are really hurting for a NT.

If he can rush the passer, get him in there, pointy duck toes and allOriginally posted by Deputy Nutz View PostWhy, because he ran real fast? logical...flawlessly logicalOriginally posted by George Cumby View PostEvery time I hear about some underclassman from the offensive side of the ball declare, I get warm and fuzzy.
My rationale being it pushes defensive talent down the board. Is this faulty logic on my part? I feel like I am missing something......

The only scary part is if these players turn into the BPA when TT is drafting and our first three rounds go WR, TE and RB.I'm with UN, beware of what you wish for... if the top rated player on TT's board is offense - we're getting an offensive player. It's that simple.Originally posted by mraynrand View Postlogical...flawlessly logicalwist

Poe isn't long and that bothers me for a defensive end in a 3-4, same reason why I don't like Raji and Pickett at defensive end. I like bigger defensive ends in the 3-4 with longer arms. I think if the Packers drafted Poe and teamed him with Raji and Pickett, you have three nose tackles. Space eaters for sure, but the Packers also need to get after the QB and that isn't why you would draft a guy like Poe, he might get you 2 or 3 sacks a year but he is a run stuffer, and that is basically why I am ignoring his forty time.
Nobody has said anything about Jared Crick from Nebraska, I just watched the Washington game here on youtube, and I gotta tell I love how he using his hands and his technique both at holding the point in the running game and rushing the passer. At one point he was rushing inside and felt he was going to get washed down and hit a beautiful spin move to relign himself with the qb and caused the pressure. He has some speed but he is your answer as a 3-4 defensive end. Some injury concerns, tough senior year with nagging injuries, and he plays a bit high at times but because he uses his hands so well he doesn't get in to much trouble.
Check it and wreck it.

At this time of year, everyone is talking about how fast draft prospects are based on 40-yard dash times. Three months ago, everyone was talking about how fast draft prospects were based on game tape. And there is a difference. With that in mind, I asked front office men to recount who were the fastest draft prospects they saw on tape. Some of their answers might surprise you.
Vinny Curry, Marshall DE. 40 time—4.98. His 40 time was puzzling because scouts say he explodes off the edge and shows excellent speed in games. Curry is a player who merits further examination.
Will Curry's 40 time cause him to drop into the 40's overall? Gil Brandt I believe had him at 41.I can't run no more
