I thought we could have a thread that's all about where FA'a are or are not going?

I will start with this talented FA. The Saints offensive guard Carl Nicks whiis out to break the bank of some NFL team that will step up and offer him NFL best OG money.

Free agent OG Carl Nicks finally received a contract offer from the Saints on Monday, deeming it "respectable."

Nicks believes the Saints didn't make an offer before Monday because they understood they couldn't meet his demands and didn't want to insult him with a low-ball offer.

Eager to become the highest-paid guard in the NFL, Nicks will sleep on the Saints' offer before the start of free agency on Tuesday. Mar 12 - 11:43 PM

This could be the quietest Packer thread all year.... Should be an interesting week. NFL Network last night was talking about how the Manning suitors are much different than the Flynn suitors, and could become a bidding war on Flynn especially between Seattle, Miami, and Cleveland. They were also discussing how Miami might not want Flynn, which is a direct message about Philbin's belief in Flynn as a starter. All talk, I know. They also reported planned trips of Carl Nicks, Mario Williams, and Vincent Jackson to Chicago this week. Washington expected (somehow now) to make an offer to Jackson, and Minnesota all of the sudden making efforts to get many of these guys in. What is Minnesota's cap number?
"I would love to have a guy that always gets the key hit, a pitcher that always makes his best pitch and a manager that can always make the right decision. The problem is getting him to put down his beer and come out of the stands and do those things." - Danny Murraugh

Vikings at $7.9 mil under not including gift of $1.6 mil from Jerry Snyder. BTW, in another thread, I posted cap space at the link below AND the carryover numbers in a separate link. This page is supposed to have the carry over numbers in them and all transactions prior to 4 PM, March 9th.

      Cap Space: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...as-of-march-11

          Wells and Bush??

Both of those guys are easily replaced, and neither plays a position of need... if there aren't any front 7 players to throw the money at - then throw it at extending other guys; but don't use cap dollars for these guys.

I'd much rather have Wimbley (if he comes available) than Wells, Bush, and let's say Clifton... There isn't much out there on the market for front 7 guys, but we need bodies there... can't play a 2-9 all the time.

Bills’ free agency plan: Big splash now, out of the market by Friday

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 13, 2012, 10:44 AM EDT
AP The Buffalo Bills won’t be patient in free agency.

Bills General Manager Buddy Nix said this morning that the team is planning to make waves with a free agent signing or two that makes the league take notice, and that once those big deals are done, the Bills will be done and moving on to preparing for the draft.

“We’d like to be out of the business by Friday. The big splash for us could be over in a week,” Nix said on WGR 550, via the Bills’ official Twitter.

Nix said he expects current Bills players to be an important part of recruiting efforts, telling other players around the league that the team is building toward its first playoff appearance in more than a decade.

“I’m excited that players have enough faith in our program that they reach out to their peers to speak well about the Bills,” Nix said.

Nix said there are three or four free agent pass rushers who could make an immediate impact, and he hopes to sign one of them within the next few days, and perhaps fill a few other holes in the roster. And then, as far as the Bills are concerned, free agency will come to an end.

“You have to fill as many needs in free agency since it comes first,” Nix said. “Then you add to your depth in the draft.”

Giants, CB Thomas agree to short-term deal

Published: March 13th, 2012 | Tags: Terrell Thomas, New York Giants

The New York Giants have agreed to terms on a short-term contract with CB Terrell Thomas, according to a league source. Thomas was set to become a free agent on Tuesday.

Re-signing with New York gives the four-year veteran a chance to return from last season’s torn anterior cruciate ligament, suffered in the preseason. Thomas missed the entire season.

The Giants wanted him back after losing an assortment of injured players to free agency in recent years. Cornerback Aaron Ross is a free agent and likely to depart —

Dallas, Washington, San Francisco and Detroit are among the teams looking at corners.

“It’s a GREAT day to be a NEW YORK GIANT!” Thomas tweeted Tuesday morning.

After drafting Thomas in the second-round of the 2008 draft out of USC, the cornerback started all 32 games in 2009 and 2010, pulling in 10 of his 11 career interceptions.

Colston, Saints working hard to finish a deal

Saints owner Tom Benson and coach Sean Payton went to New York to meet with Commissioner Roger Goodell. They presumably left G.M. Mickey Loomis in New Orleans because he has bigger fish to fry.

And one guy that he’s trying to get into the pan is ** receiver Marques Colston.

A league source tells PFT the two sides are working feverishly toward finalizing a new contract before Colston becomes a free agent at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Colston, we’re told, badly wants to remain a Saint.
In six NFL seasons, Colston has 449 receptions for 6,240 yards and 48 touchdowns. He entered the league as a seventh-round pick in 2006.

** It's just being reported by the NFL Network that WR Marques Colston has re-signed with the NO Saints. He gets a new Five year contract.

On Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET, the new league year begins. Free agency opens. Trades can happen. And all that crap.

We’ll celebrate the occasion with 32 hours of continuous coverage, via ongoing updates until the clock strikes 12 on Wednesday night, maybe longer.

Silva is putting together the first draft of our top 100 free agents, which we’ll update as each deal comes in.

We’ll also remain on top of the biggest stories, like the Peyton chase, the Saints’ bounty system, and the latest out-of-the-blue controversy regarding the league’s effort to swipe $46 million in cap room from the Cowboys and Redskins.

Why do I have a feeling that some other major, unexpected story is right around the corner?

Anybody relishing the opportunity the BEARS have with a signing of Mario Williams?

What a pass rush with Mario Williams sucking down on your QB from one side and on the other >>> here come Julius Peppers. Yikes !

What will Ted Thompson supply MM with to stop that possibility? Will the BEARS make it happen? It's this stuff that makes the FA period over the next couple of days so exciting to me.

That is why we need at top end running back...FYI, heard the Bears will likely start with an offer of 5 years $65-70 Mil offer to Williams.

Yes the word is that Mario Williams will command the richest contract of any defensive player in NFL history. I hope he signs with any other team than the Bears. It is seeming the Bears are high on his list of teams to play for. Is there good pizza in Chicago?

David Buehler earlier today and just now released 9 year Vet CB Terrence Newman.

Sure is a lot of room available in the top 9 teams. Bears with under $23 million have a lot of competitors with more cap space.
