Trgo on Still/Worthy: Still taller, longer, didn't have "quite the wiggle" of Worthy. Two different players. Was very close between the two.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

          • He goes with a defensive back ..CB Casey Heyward and he's being praised as the corner with the next best skills at cornerback after Maurice Claiborne and the analyst LOVES this pick.

He was slated to go late 3rd Rd but again TT makes a great choice here and goes defense in all three picks that is very solid IMO.

            • CASEY HAYWARD | Vanderbilt 5-111/4|192 lbs|4SR Perry, GA (Perry HS) 9/9/1989 (age 22) #19

A three-year starter, Casey Hayward was a two-star WR/CB recruit out of HS, choosing Vanderbilt over Troy. He played in every game as a true freshman in 2008 (13 gp/0 st), recording 8 tkls, 3 pbu and 1 FF. Hayward became a starting CB in 2009 as a sophomore (12 gp/12 st), finishing with 58 tkls, 8.5 tfl, 7 pbu and 2 INTs. He again started all 12 games in 2010 as a junior (12 gp/12 st), recording 70 tkls, 2.0 tfl, 11 pbu, 1 FF and 6 INTs, earning Second Team All-SEC honors. Hayward started all 13 games in 2011 as a senior (13 gp/13 st), finishing with 62 tkls, 7.5 tfl, 10 pbu and a career-best 7 INTs (second in the SEC), earning Second Team All-SEC honors.

STRENGTHS: Hayward is a coordinated athlete with good footwork and balance. He is a heady cover player with above average feel and anticipation in space – trusts his eyes with very good awareness. Hayward has very good reaction skills to break quickly on the ball – savvy cover skills to recognize and anticipate routes, understanding what the offense wants to do. He has terrific ballskills with the focus and hands to secure interceptions in traffic – very opportunistic with 15 career picks the last three years. Hayward is tough and aggressive to hold up against the run and work off blocks. He is smart, awar e and confident and has started every game the past three seasons at Vanderbilt (37 consecutive starts).

WEAKNESSES: Hayward has only average height and length (30” arms) with a slender frame and lean muscle definition. He lacks top-shelf speed and doesn’t have great acceleration. Hayward doesn’t have elite fluidity and struggles to recover after false steps. He lacks explosion in his transition with upright technique and has inconsistent backpedal, opening his hips prematurely to guard against vertical routes. Hayward doesn’t look natural in reverse and needs to keep the play in front of him to be effective. Hayward lacks ideal strength and will be out-muscled by receivers. He is inconsistent against the run and needs to improve his tackling fundamentals in order to finish. Hayward is too physical and hands-on in coverage, arriving early and attracting pass interference penalties. He lacks much experience in press coverage and appears scheme specific at the next level.

OVERALL: Hayward was a hidden recruiting gem for Vanderbilt, starting all 37 games the past three years, and was very productive in college, collecting 15 INTs over his career. He is a very average athlete with ordinary speed and looks out of his element when flipping his hips in order to stay with receivers downfield – obviously most comfortable in off-man coverage where he can face the action. Hayward plays more like a free safety, struggling to find the ball and make a play after he’s turned around and is ideally suited for a zone scheme where he can use his eyes and anticipation – will be graded differently by every team depending on the scheme and he has NFL potential in the right defense, but teams know what they’re getting with him.

              PROJECTION: 2nd-3rd Round COMPARISON: Brandon Ghee WORKOUT RESULTS: 4.53 40-YD DASH // 19 REPS // 34.0” V // 9’11” BJ // 6.76 3C // 11.10 LS // 3.90 SS

Patriots were in a bad spot. No late picks (literally, at all) and no players that fit what they were looking for.

                        • Two of TT's tendencies just went out the window. He drafted a CB shorter than 6', and it's the first time he's drafted defense with first 3 picks.

                            • I wonder if Hayward's skills translate well at safety....if he could bulk up a little.

I was dreaming. So long since I saw a great RB with us. If he was there on TT's last pick and TT went to him I would have leaped to the ceiling.
