  • OFFICIAL DAY THREE 2012......DRAFT DAY THREAD

    Let's Get Fired up !!!

JUST SHOW BIG SHOWS AGO WE EXPERIENCED THIS

And then after a year when going nearly undefeated this occured

Chaos hit the fan in the PR community.

TT felt the pain and it drove his madness to actually liberal participation in the free agent market. And the dude who was sometimes accused by many of not having the stones to go bold and go big.....and the dude who was sometimes accused of going BPA with no regard for need..........................has essentially

    It's clear...........Hail to TT

    He is alive

Out of no where comes........TTT...........Ted the Tiger Thompson...........doing a wonderful job combining BPA with need

He gets us our pass rusher.........he gets us a DL who graded out as a first round pick.....he gets us a future starting CB....

While it is on him and his scouts to figure out of he selected the right player.........the strategy was perfectly executed.

Anything out of these last rounds should be icing on the cake. Yes, it still churns my stones, that TTT gave up a fourth round draft pick to let the Eagles trade down and draft My Cousin and Future Pro Bowler Vinny Curry.........but I understand it was a deal that needed to be made. And I feel bad the Badger I've admired as much as any is stuck with Bevell on the QB hole we call Seattle.

But for Green Bay Packer Fans....................we have to be feeling some of this about the draft

Da Pack is back fellow Homers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make it a great Saturday.

Whatever occurs today is icing on the Cake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the eve of losing Charles Woodson to age, a guy like Hayward is just what the doctor ordered. I've heard it said, corners playing inside have to be your smartest, most mentally prepared corner on your team. You don't have the sideline as consistent protection. Your leverages change from coverage to coverage and the concepts offense throw at you , if you have an understanding of what they're trying to do, an inside corner can reek havoc on the passing game, like Woodson does now, even if he's lost quite a bit of speed.

Hayward looks like the most ready player to actually start and play consistently at corner. But we have two outside cover guys who range from damn good to friggin fantastic (Shields and Williams) Hayward protects against injury this year. Going forward, as he develops, it sounds like he's a guy who can play one of the tougher positions on defense, one that maybe isn't so reliant on pure speed, but one that allows for more exotic coverages, one that opens up the playbook a little the way Woodson does. Looks like he's a specialty type player, and inside corner, not a pure outside cover corner who can do it all.

I love the pick. I love it for depth now (this is our window) and I love it for a possible nitche down the road.

It's similar to Perry and Worthy. They bring something right now (depth and situation impact.) They need to round out their game into somewhat complete players. But the Packers added desperately needed pass rush to a defense that is already the best defense in the league at creating turnovers.

The great teams, the truly dominant teams of all time are strong in all areas and it just rolls up. The offense helps the defense and ST's. The ST's help the defense and offense, and the defense helps the ST's and offense. Lapses or not, the Packers look like one of those teams that can just roll it up, just blow teams out of the water. And they also added players who will help insure, over time, they still have excellent all around players while they continue to add new young players to help out.

Lets face it, the Packers are a great team. GREAT! It's going to take a lot of bad things to happen for this team not to compete for a championship. Rodgers, Raji and Matthews need to be healthy down the stretch for us to be front runners, but we're going to get there and if our big 3 is ready to rumble, no team in the league can match our talent (or coaching IMO.)

Crick is a classic tweener (similar to Perry.) He's very talented (again, similar to Perry but not quite at that level.) Unlike Perry he has injury concern. Tweeners can fall. Teams look for that classic player who can start and play every down. Offenses have gone more and more to situational players. TE's who can't block. RB's who are mostly open field/pass catching players along with a RB who's more of a runner. A classic QB and a wild cat QB. Slot WR's, Route runners, Big guys you can throw to in the endzone, but maybe can't get off the line as well so they have to play off the line of scrimmage, pure blocking TE's, etc. . . . They have package after package after package. Defense doesn't seem they do quite as much of that.

The Packers seem to be open to drafting situation players. It looks like we're going to have some extra mixing and matching based on down, distance, and who the opponent is. Crick is a situational player. Seems like he's a guy who could drop. Seems like he's the type of situational player the Packers are drafting this year.

I'd love Crick. He'd be a big-time 3rd down pass rusher for our line. I like his stunts. With a guy like Worthy or Raji who can crash inside, a guy like Crick who can stunt inside or directly rush the passer brings a little something extra.

If we follow tendency of this draft, we'll be drafting guys like Crick and maybe a RB who excels in one area of the game, vs a guy who's more complete but less talented in any one area of the game.

Time for developmental OL and QB and some situational type players at other positions like RB.

completely on board with Crick and Billy Winn

We've lost Jolly and Jenkins and have nothing in our cups to replace them.

I hope we go high with another DL

I'm expecting the Packers to take a QB or RB and an OT or OG/OC with their two fourth round picks.

There's a sickening amount of value on the board at WR too.

I'm betting TT won't be able to stop himself from drafting a WR....somewhere.

I'd like to see DL if the value is there and hope TT moves up to get Crick. If not get the best saftey then. I'm willing to not pick a rb as I have faith Green and Starks is enough. By far my biggest worry at this point is that Bretsky is loving our draft. When he said he would rather have picked other than Perry I thought we were safe, but the sheer exuberance he has is really getting me worried. Wist do your best to sink his enthusiasm and save these poor innocent players!
