  • Jolly released from prison - gets shock probation

Judge grants Johnny Jolly 'shock probation'

Perhaps they should use the shock collar as a way to treat the addiction itself.
    Here have some drugs.

    I'm shocked.

    No, wait, Johnny Jolly is.

And since someone has to ask, let it be me:

Should the Packers attempt to sign him?

    I say yes!

They don't have to sign him. They have him under contract as soon as his suspension from the NFL ends. Then they'll cut him unless there's some form of miracle from now until then.

While it would be nice to see him back with the Packers, the time off can't have been good for his development--or his body. Somehow I think he has a better chance of showing up in the USFL than the NFL, and even that might be a stretch after two years of likely inactivity. On a human note, hopefully he's had some kind of conversion during his time in prison.

None of you are doing a very good job today of indulging my Packer fantasy here. Dammit, you're supposed to come out and say that there are reports that Jolly has taken very good care of himself (prison workouts!) and is sincere in his attempts to go clean. Then one of you is supposed to chime in with a report of a report that TT and MM are rumored to be setting up a meeting with Jolly.

You people and your "reality" crap. "Reality" this and "reality" that. You're all a bunch of Patlers.

Fuck ya, sign him, if he is physically still an athlete.

Man, I certainly hope the NFL reinstates the guy without condition, immediately. Dude has suffered enough for his crimes (even worse than Nixon and his phlebitis, for you old people.)

I hope you can latch-on to a contract somewhere and rebuild his life.

Shoot the messenger! I thought dude was gonna be on house arrest and have an ankle bracelet that shocked his ass when he left it's range.

I dont see why he shouldn't be given another chance. Several on here felt Jolly would have stood a better chance at not relapsing if he got to be around the team. At least see what he can bring to the table.

If Jolly gets reinstated, he might have the most influential Packer on his side. Rodgers said this after Jolly's latest arrest, which landed him in jail:

                      http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/a...packers-100511

"It's just disappointing. And I'll be honest, I think the league deserves some of the blame in this case," Rodgers said. "When you look at some of the other guys that have been reinstated in the league after jail sentences, and justly, rightly so. Johnny didn't serve any days in prison, sat out for a year and still couldn't get his case heard, from what I was told."

"I just think that's wrong. … I think the commissioner's done a great job of cleaning up some of the stuff in the league. That said, if you take a guy away from his support system … I don't think that's helping."

                          Johnny Jolly 'Criminal Charges'.

                          This hurt him:

** "March 25, 2011... arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute after police allegedly found 600 grams of codeine in his vehicle.

** Caught driving a car with a suspended license. Jolly was arrested and charged again on October 1, 2011 for possession of codeine and tampering with evidence by trying to hide the drug.

** November 17, 2011 Jolly was sentenced to 6 years in prison for violation of probation in conjunction to his arrest for possession of narcotics.[7] On May 15th, Jolly was granted early release with a 10 year *** 'shock probation'.

*** Shock probation is the policy by which a judge orders a convicted offender to prison for a short time then suspends the remainder of the sentence in favor of probation. It is hopedthat the initial experience of prison will provide an effective deterrent from recidivism." Fr.Wikipedia

Thanks. Whenever I hear Nixon and phlebitis in the same sentence I think of him and Bebe Rebozo walking along the beach. Good times...good times.
