  • 2012 Stanely Cup

So there is no forum area for hockey, so looks like I am putting this in the football area, sorry.

So the devils avoid the sweep in the stanley cup finals. Does anyone think they can comeback and win after being down 3-0? Normally I would say no way in hell, but with Broduer in net it is possible.
Any puckheads out there? (I assume this will be a canadian dominated thread)

I'm actually a bigger college hockey fan than NHL fan, so I mostly root for guys that went to North Dakota. The Devils have Parise (the captain) and Zajac from UND. However, the Kings have been my favorite NHL team since the Marcel Dionne and ugly crown uni days, so I'm rooting for them. And their assistant captain is from UND (Matt Greene). I don't think I've seen a team have a better run in the playoffs than the Kings are on. Their defense and goaltending is ridiculous. I'd say there's little to no chance the Devils come back and win this.

I am rooting for LA. They are tough enough and gritty enough to win on the road. Amazing their road winning streak in the playoffs. Now they can win the Cup on the road in NJ...

The triple crown line! Dionne with Taylor and Simmer I think? First forward line in which all three players scored 100 points! They gave my Oilers some grief for a few years.

Haven't watched much hockey this year, but looks like LA's had a hell of a run. What were they doing at 8th in the conference?

Mad, up here we call hockey religion.
I would love to see NJ come back and win it just for the story, but I seriously doubt they make it past game five.
As a habs fan I have had no strong reason to pay a lot of attention to the gaem this year, but playoffs are always exciting.

Ahh poor you. I'm a Habs fan too. I've a Special File for internet news on Les Habitants. I call it:

              HABS SUCK !

The managment chose former HAB HC Michael Therrien as their next HC ...over Patrick Roy and Marc Crawford. Did you like that decision?

Here's a comment from 'KILLER' on that:

Read the latest sports news, featuring scores, game updates, schedules and athlete news for hockey, basketball, soccer, football, baseball, and more.

Les Canadiens have the third pick in the Draft. Who do you like?

For any team to go all the way in the Stanley Cup playoffs that team must be solid in goal. It's now 3-1 KINGS over 'the Devils'. One of the very best ALL TIME Brodeur Vs Quick. I cannot count out Brodeur if the Devils win game five....but ....

If I had to bet it looks like the Devils do NOT come back.

A habs fan. From Saskatchewan? Where you can watch your dog run away for three days? I guess I shouldn't talk, being an Oilers fan from Northern Ontario!~

Yes and that dogs moving fast.

I discovered this that is a wee bit of a challenge even for 'a Canuck':

Coming to Saskatchewan, American Man? Then you had better Know the language

Puddinhead from Idaho... learned a few new sayings while he was up here,

"I learned about Bow wows, bush chickens, speed goats, Rotton Ronalds, and so many other just fantastic sayings."

If you Americans can translate the Saskatchewan sayings in the following paragraph you'll be able to join in most barroom conversations.

"A farmer was telling me that he was coming back from 'the Pool' and just about hit a couple of jumpers on the grid by the correction line. He couldn't see them, cause a bunch of rig pigs were on the shoulder eating K-Fry and drinking a 2-4 of pil."

Well most Canadians will interpret that accurately. Even if you don't drink 'that swill'.

If you would have ended it with "go Riders" that was the same conversation I had with a client just yesterday!!!

And Guiness, my brother was a huge oilers fan, so much so that I do not like anything Gretsky, and had trouble cheering for them in 2007 during the cup run.

Harvey, where in North Dakota are you? I get right next to the ND/SK border quite iften with my oilfield clients.

Either team winning is all right by me, but I kinda hope it goes to game 7. Two big metro areas in a game 7, the ratings might almost be as high as a cooking show rerun.
Why is it most americans don't care about hockey? Its fast action with high intensity. Who doesn't like that?

They all (well, all that aren't from Minnesota) whine about not being able to see the little black puck. Attention deficit disorder, if they lose track of it for a second or two, they change the channel!

Plus, as Eddie Murphy pointed out, black guys are not interested in anything that involves white guys with masks and sticks
