But this is his swan song.
I kinda hope he doesn't - because it likely means several receivers are injured. Look, right now Jennings is out and Finley is getting reduced snaps because of his shoulder, and Driver STILL isn't getting hardly any snaps. Let's keep it that way. Love Driver - saw him score his first TD against Carolina at Lambeau. But it's time to face fact.

I think Driver isn't getting the snaps because Nelson is stepping up and they want to feature Cobb and see if Jones can put up the numbers this year. It will probably be Driver's last year, and I think it's good to have him here. Even if he can't always perform the way he used to, he's still got the experience and I expect that he's a good on-field coach. Look, we know Thompson. If Driver didn't have something to offer, he wouldn't be on this team.

        +1.

That 'ole dog will come up big in the clutch before it's said and done. Doesn't matter what the fans think, it matters what A-Rod and the other receivers know and trust. They work as a unit.

He's a winner and he'll close his Packer Hall of Fame career out the right way.

I think he's done. You could see it at the end of last season. The guy just doesn't get separation anymore. Personally, I'd rather see Boykin in the game at this point.

Yep. By last year, teams were covering him with a linebacker. He's done. I hope he realizes it, even if he won't publicly say so.

IMO, you could have written the same article at the end of last year. DD is playing at an average TE speed with a tiny WR frame. I was pretty down on him after the Giants assigned a slow LBer to cover him. I kept hearing how "great" he was doing in camp and was hopeful he just wore down at the end of last year. I think he has fallen off the proverbial WR cliff.

Love him as a player and a person, but all players reach their limit at some point. Prove me wrong DD.

The big assumption in this logic being that the other arguer is not also an idiot.

Yes, Driver is finished. For as much as people wanted to give him credit for the playoff game vs the Giants last year, he was being covered by the likes of Chase Blackburn. If he's fine with being a mentor, then there is no harm in having him this year.

                          Yes.

                          Taking away snaps from Boykin.

Wouldn't it have been better to keep another young player from training camp who could be developed for the long term?
A: Tom Silverstein - Not really. There isn't a WR that isn't on the roster because Driver is. Jarrett Boykin made the team and he's the only guy who was worthy of it that was in training camp. If Tori Gurley and Diondre Borel were that good they'd be on 53-man rosters now. So, it's not keeping a better receiver from being on the team. Driver serves a role even if it's not always on the field. He's a hard worker, he's wise and he sets a good example for not only the receivers but everyone else. If injuries became a huge issue and they needed his roster spot, they would probably have to cut him loose. But right now, it's not necessary.
Gurley was cut from the buc's ps today.

They kept 6 WRs, so obviously they felt Boykin deserved a spot on the team. The 6th WR (Driver) could have been used at another position, so it has little to do with Driver vs. Gurley vs. Borel. More like Driver vs. Boykin vs. spot at another position. This is a prime opportunity (if Jennings and Nelson are both out) for Driver to show that he deserved a spot on the team. I hope he does well.

I've seen Driver open, it's not his fault ARod doesn't throw to him. I still think he'll get his chance.
                                Thanks Ted!
