Mike Neal back at practice today. Nelson and Shields still out.
    I can't run no more
    With that lawless crowd

    Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up

The decision on Neal will be based mostly on how he reacts physically to yesterday's practice.

I try to give guys a lot of leeway about injuries, because to me it's just such a physical, dangerous game, that I think it's often just bad luck when a guy keeps getting hurt. But now I truly am wondering if Neal and Starks are Justin and Harrell.

Out- Kuhn, Worthy, Shields, Perry, Woodson, Jennings
        Questionable- Nelson, McMillian (back)
Probable- Neal, Driver, Lang, Raji, Rodgers

          McMillian now? Jaysus.

They're going to have to get a fourth grader from a local elementary school to play safety if any one else goes down.

Certainly nice to have Raji back. Neal too, that guy needs to stay on the field. Nelson would be real nice.

What the hell with Shields? Something is going on there.

Regarding Shields - yeah, what the hell is up with that? Haven't heard anything since he went down. Also thought Perry would be back too. I thought I heard they were waiting for a brace two weeks ago so he could practice. He should have gotten it by now.

I just think with the bye week next week they will hold out anyone who could possibly need the extra rest

I sure would like to know what happened to Shields. When he got hurt, a replay appeared to show that he was leg whipped in the shin. It didn't look overly violent, and it didn't seem to catch his knee or ankle.. I could understand that it might have hurt like heck initially, and could have been very sore; but I thought he could be back the next week, certainly by the week after.

It must have been a lot more violent than it looked, with the brunt of the force absorbed by his knee or ankle for him to be out this long.

I thought he twisted his ankle the when I saw the hit, but they reported it as a shin injury so who knows?

After watching his players – at least some of them, since they openly admitted it afterward – sleepwalk through last week’s victory over Jacksonville, McCarthy was hell-bent on making sure there were no motivational issues this week. So while raising the intensity level in practice was part of his emphasis during the week, McCarthy also dangled a carrot in front of his guys: Win, and your bye week starts Monday; lose, and you’re here ‘til Wednesday – the longest McCarthy could keep his guys around according to CBA rules.
                      Thanks Ted!

Someone get the game day thread going. I am leaving to go to the game ASAP.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

I'm curious to see Starks today. I've hoped so much for Green, and sort of sold Starks up a river. Well, now I'm putting some hope back into Starks, only because I'm left with no choice. It would be nice to have a decent run game today. I do think MM is more serious than he's ever been about running the ball, and with those extra chances to work together, I do think we'll end up with the best run game we've had in the MM era down the stretch. You get what you put in, and they're putting in the work and dedication.

Hopefully some of that dedication to running the ball starts to pay off this week.

I wonder if it's a little less about the back and more about the line's poor blocking. Both are factors, I know, but if TJ Lang is right, and the line can get it together and finish blocks, somebody should get sprung, and not because he's looking at porn.

I would like to see this offensive line start to get its shit together.

I think its the line too and this runs counter to the quasi-professional opinion of Eric Baranczyk writing with Christl. Benson was averaging 3.2 yards behind the same group. Its only going to get better to a degree even with more competent running from Starks (who will need time to get back to speed) and Green is going to start.

Lang being hurt and Saturday needing an adjustment to the blocking schemes means this could get better later in the season, but I ma not expecting them to average 4.0 a game Weeks 10-17.

Nelson was testing his leg earlier according to Twitter and Wilde. We are still 35 minutes from the inactive list.
