He may have gotten tripped up on the line but he went down all on his own without touching anyone. I was afraid someone rolled up on his ankle or knee and was releaved when the replays didn't show that.

I was bummed out 5 minutes later when they need the cart to take him from the Packers' sideline to the lockerroom.

Of course there was no announcement at Lambeau on who took his place. So for the next 2 or 3 plays the people around me were trying to see who was in and how the line was reshuffled.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

I wonder if the hip got whacked out of sorts immediately after the trip on the next bad step?
Ya, MM said the problem was the odd twist he put on his body to regain his balance. Said he might have been better off to just fall to the ground right away.

They fear he might have dislocated his hip, but then had it pop back in on its own.

From the Good News/Bad News department.

Nick Perry is not visiting a specialist due to his knee injury, but to get his wrist looked at. By a slim margin, I think that's good news. Until the surgery, anyway.

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Somewhat interesting... Sherrod designated to return to practice:

#Packers have designated Derek Sherrod to return to practice. Doesn't mean he will, but they've bought themselves three more weeks.
I wonder if this has anything to do with Bulaga's injury? It looks to me like they're keeping this open.

Sherrod has had a few weeks now, where he's probably close to full go. It takes time to rebuild that lost muscle. Now he gets to practice for a few weeks.

If we can buy a little time before another injury hits, I think he could be serviceable late in the season and into the playoffs. I think it would be a big drop off, but not a disaster.

Next year, assuming he gets a full offseason, he could really solidify the depth of our OL and maybe even push Newhouse or Bulaga for a spot. Bulaga, to me, has been very disappointing. I feel like he gives up more pressures, and gets pushed back more in the run game than Newhouse.

Wasn't he put on Practice Squad IR? Or has he been released since then?

They had to do something with him by today, his PUP time was up. This gives them another three weeks to decide his final disposition. Might as well, even if they expect he will ultimately go on IR.

I think today is the final day for Quarless as a nonroster practice participant. He has to be activated, placed on IR or released.

I wonder what the heck they're going to do with Quarless. I like him as a player - I think he was developing very well before he was hurt. But how do you make room for yet another tight end?

They're not going to cut Finley. DJ Williams shows flashes of talent and he's young, so how can they cut him? Crabtree is playing well on ST and is becoming a better receiving option now. Taylor appears to be a core ST guy.

Do you short yourself at another position to make room for Quarless? He appears to be completely healthy, so IR would seem to be out.

If you short yourself, where? They can't afford to give up spots at linebacker or on either line.

Umm.....maybe Donald Driver's spot? Quarless, unlike Driver, could play special teams. And moving Quarless back into the mix at TE would allow the team to use Finley in more WR sets in which Driver might've gotten the occasional snap.

Does Thompson dare to do this? Does it make sense to do this?

I started the Packers bye week out with a bang; I just ordered for $$ 200 Packers gear from Packers Pro Shop , gear for my family & I. All in the spirit to support my favorite team, the Packers, but also as a tribute to 4 more years to Barack Obama. Congrats Wisconsin & congrats America; let's get to work and let's get that trade deal between USA & Europe going. You've got a friend!

Last year they were 5/5 at WR/TE, this year it is 6/4, so arguably his roster spot from last year went to Driver/Boykin. But with Jennings out and Nelson less than a picture of health this year, I doubt we will see a WR go.

It is beginning to sound like Perry is headed to IR with wrist surgery. At least temporarily that could be the opening for Quarless.

Keep hope alive for this year's 2012 Bruce Wilkerson Thanks for Saving Our Ass Award.

Borel was indeed released/cut from the PS/injured (hamstring) according to the same JSO article as Perry news.

In some ways, James Jones should be a candidate for your 2012 BWTSOAA.

I saw the Borel stuff this morning. Kind of odd how it was handled - placed on PS IR 10 days ago, now released. That kind of stuff happens early in the season with injury settlements, and with regular roster players just about anytime, but it is somewhat unusual with the low, low paid PS guys as the season progresses. But, a dollar is a dollar. Maybe they wanted the practice body last week while Borel got another opinion on his injury before agreeing to a very small settlement.

Yes, Jones has to be the leader at midseason for the award, followed by MVP candidate Tim Masthay and Tom Crabtree. That list alone proves how weird this season has been.

Crabtree is one more long TD reception away from leading all Packer TEs in yardage. He already has the TD lead.
