  • Lion's Disarray

JSO has Scott Linehan (OC) and Shawn Jefferson (WR coach and former FF tease) getting into sideline confrontation. Missed that during the game.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Perhaps the WR coach thought it stupid of the OC not to target Megatron rather than the TE during the last do-or-die possession and wanted to point it out immediately rather than later lest the issue slip his mind...
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

I think the heart of the dispute was "Titus Young is a pain in the ass and is thus not the player he should be."

You could kind of see this coming, there were all sorts of scouts willing to tell you he was a diva, a troublemaker, and that "the skillset don't match the mindset."

The tv telecast did show them having some sort of heated disagreement on the sideline but Aikman and Buck didn't touch what was happening. Their season just went down the toilet and they don't seem to have an answer as how to turn it around.
Contrast that scene with Jennings trying to get Crosby to laugh a little bit on the Green Bay sideline. What a great teammate! It was just after Mason's 2nd miss and who knows if it helped him on the 3rd try or not but he did make that last kick. One of the announcers referenced the commercial where Greg is trying to get Dougie to smile on the airplane because Doug sold his endzone tickets to a couple who now had Jennings Lambeau leaping in their laps.

Well, it's more fun being 6-3 than it is being 4-5.

Yet both were more than willing to hypothesize what MM was saying to Crosby after the shorter FG miss. Both were convinced he was in Crosby's face, chewing him out. Crosby said after the game that it was just the opposite, that MM was very encouraging, and told him to get ready because this team would put him into position for another FG attempt before the game was over.

McCarthy should've chewed him out. That miss was inexcusable. The Packers were lucky the Lions didnt score a td the last time they were in the redzone. Even luckier Crosby didnt have to kick the game-winner. Crosby sucks.

Tom Coughlin didn't win two SBs by encouraging his specialists after they made a bad play, especially a fucking inexcusable bad play. In fact, Coughlin almost cut his punter on the spot after the poor dude helped the Packers into the big dance by punting the ball to D-Jax instead of out of bounds as Coughlin had instructed.

Yep, red faced about a punter mis-hitting a ball made all the difference. Led right to a non-playoff berth. We all know punters don't need to mis-hit the ball if they truly care enough about their teammates and themselves. Mis-hitting the ball is selfish.

Yes because a good coach always screams at his players. That's how you get the best out of them. It's science.

After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.

It was obvious from the shot I saw that MM was calm when he spoke to Crosby. The announcers were just stirring the pot as there was no real indication that MM was being negative.

Aikman and Buck were ok yesterday, Aikman even insightful at times.

Buck's glasses make him look like an asshole, though.

They were busy not being able to see pass interference.

I know you're being sarcastic, but McCarthy has got to chew out his players once in while. Let them know mistakes are unacceptable and a player has to do his job. Crosby is a seasoned pro; he has to make his kicks, especially the 39 yarder that wouldve tied the game.

Its clear McCarthy is no disciplinarian like Coughlin. He's more of a strategist like Bill Walsh was. Holmgren was a little bit of both. The Walrus grabbed Billy Schroeder's face mask for all to see and he would've put James Jones in a doghouse for fumbling twice in a game as a rookie if he were coaching Jones.
