  • Andy Reid's son was in possession of steroids.

Andy Reid's son, Garrett, was in possession of steroids when he died last fall:

Since he was an employee of the Eagles at the time, as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, this might get messy for the Eagles. They have pledged to cooperate, and noted that no players have been found with steroids during routine testing. Maybe he had it only for his own use.

I find it odd that this is coming out now - maybe to add fuel to the "Fire Reid" fire.

Based on the eagles record I would have to believe the younger Reid wasn't sharing the juice with the homies.

In busy cities, a lot of coroner investigation reports take a long time, especially when the case is not suspicious in nature. The lab tests take a back seat to suspected homicide cases etc. It sounds like the investigation is still not complete:
Authorities in Northampton County said Monday that the 19 vials of liquid found in Reid's dorm room at Lehigh University after his death Aug. 5 contained four types of anabolic steroids used mostly by bodybuilders.

Reid, 29, was volunteering as a strength-and-conditioning coach with the team, coached by his father, during training camp over the summer. Authorities discovered 47 syringes and 64 needles in a nylon bag in his dorm room, but Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said there was no evidence that Reid was selling the steroids or giving them to anyone else.

Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said more testing was being done to determine whether the steroids were in Reid's system when he died of a heroin overdose in his room. Otherwise, he said, no other physical evidence existed to determine whether Reid was using the steroids as well.

Sounds like they're going to let it die - the DA says no evidence to link anybody to the steroids. The Coroner says they will look to see if he had any in him when he died, and that's going to be it.

It sure looks peculiar though - 19 vials of steroids and a bag full of syringes with spare needles. That's enough to, well, get an NFL team through training camp. Certainly more than some hapless junkie would need.

Even of the City lets this go, I wonder if Roger would get involved? Way too close for comfort and it gets at both player safety and drug policy.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Not sure if that is the case or not. There were four different steroids found, some which they said are used in combination. Some vials they said had very little in them, others at most 10 milliliters. Some were of a steroid that is injected every two or three days for body building. It might have been his stash for the 4 weeks of TC, with enough to be sure he didn't run out.

Hmmm...seems plausible in retrospect I guess. A sad situation in any case.
