The Vikings did well for themselves tonight. I find it hard to believe this draft is going to hurt them. They got 2 very capable defenders and an explosive athlete at WR when they already have AP and Jennings to work with. It isn't like their roster has a ton of open holes where they need 15 draft picks to fight for spots.
Bears...LMAO. They are targeting the basement in the NFC North, it appears.
The Packers took a guy they need. We need explosive athletes upfront on the DL. Clay is the only guy like that we have. Does he have a lot to learn? Yeah. So does every other late 1st round pick. If he has a great motor and is willing to learn, he has the kind of physical tools that few players possess. You aren't going to find a guy at #26 who has a flawless evaluation. If you are Wist, you won't even find that guy in Canton. It's such a GOOD feeling...13 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

We'll see on Patterson, gotta see him on the field. Pretty much agree with you on all points at this juncture.Originally posted by HarveyWallbangers View PostI think so also. I think he made a mistake on Patterson. He's an athlete, but not a receiver. I don't like receivers that have to learn how to run routes and catch after getting to the pros. He reminds me of Troy Williamson. I like the Rhodes pick. I think Floyd is worth taking a chance on. Spielman has a blind spot for Ponder though, and I think it might come back to haunt him. You can be a great GM, but if you make a mistake at QB, it will likely cost you your job. You never know. Guys like Ponder (and even Gabbert) could turn into good QBs. Ponder has no excuse this year. A good OL, Peterson, Rudolph, and Jennings are enough for a good QB to make work.

yeah, ras is my top 10 maybe top 5 favorite poster on hereOriginally posted by pbmax View PostHe did take just a little grief, gbpf, but that is because for a lot of us old-timers Ras is like family. Family that roots for the wrong team, but family none-the-less. I think you have been here long enough to know that. He's good people.
But some of the grief he started to take at the end of the night was just kinda gratuitous and not funny. Notice that Red for instance took one opening shot and then one more shot at one of the picks. But all of Red's other material was serious, informative (or funny) and treated a visiting poster with some respect. If the ratio of unfunny smack is 1:1 with actual discussion, it kinda depresses the mood.
I am not picking on you BTW. But others seemed to have a snootful working.
hate his team, like the poster.

I'm excited about what Matthews, Jones, and a health Perry could do. We have pass rushers. Hopefully, they can contain against the read option and hopefully the big boys inside can hold the middle. I'd like to see a DT, S, and OL next.
National Football Post: The Packers add an impact defensive end in Jones. A strong and powerful player, Jones' ability to jolt and defeat pass blockers is remarkable. He proved his pass-rush ability by beating Eric Fisher repeatedly during Senior Bowl practices. Not only productive rushing the passer, Jones lined up all over the defensive line at UCLA. Do not be shocked when Jones has 10-plus sacks as a rookie."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

If you watch this guy enough there is not much to dislike. Very solid pick and the obvious choice IMO unless TT traded downTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Thanks, we've had our tangles before but no reason we can't be cool. Packers Friday night will be much more interesting than the Vikings so enjoy. Guess I have to be happy with what they got tonight.Originally posted by JustinHarrell View PostI'm not much for sentimentality, but it would feel like we lost a big member of the group of you weren't here on draft day, ras.

Datone Jones sounds a lot like Justin Smith to me. He's going to take a year or two to really get his full game going I think. Like Smith, I think it will take him a little bit to really get his NFL leverage and power. But like Smith, I also think he's a perfect talent to play 3-4 DE. I see us playing more base defense.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.

The guy is very similar in size to Brett Keisel. If it's good enough for Blitzburgh, it's good enough for me.
