Lang was a 4th."I would love to have a guy that always gets the key hit, a pitcher that always makes his best pitch and a manager that can always make the right decision. The problem is getting him to put down his beer and come out of the stands and do those things." - Danny Murraugh

Barclay and EDS are UDFA's. Lang and Sitton were drafted in the 4th, Newhouse in the 5th.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

I think Thompson truly will take the best guy no matter what position. On our DL we have Daniels, Worthy, Wilson, Neal, raji, Pickett...young guys except Pickett, coach them up!
I worry though that the picks of Worthy and Daniels are the wrong body type for what the defense needs to do on early downs."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Defense was the reason that the Packers lost the last few years in the playoffs. I realize TT went all defense last year, but if he's not going to pickup some solid talent in free agency, then draft all defense players again this year. I don't care what position, I just want some hard-nosed football players that like to hit! We need one or two players that opposing teams fear when playing against.

TT likes to say best available player regardless of position -- this public statement prevents from giving away the Packer's hand during the draft. IMO this is not true.Originally posted by ND72 View PostRaji doesn't play the nose, pickett does. TT has also proven willing to give away draft picks in order to move up.

This is a horrible time for free agency. Prior to the new CBA, teams did not have a minimum spending threshold. Now they do. All teams have to spend a certain amount, and that amount is pretty high from what I remember reading.
Teams like Buffalo, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Cleveland, and others have a ton of room. Buffalo 20M Cinci and Cle 50M plus, Tampa and Miami 30M plus and a few in the 20M range. Those teams are being forced to sign bigger contracts (see the Bills going after Mario and the Dolphins paying Vincent Jackson through the roof. Those teams have to spend. Any of the bigger name guys are going to get contracts off the charts. All players should get more than their worth. They usually do, but now more than ever with the new CBA dynamics coming into play.
I think we're going to have to draft and develop guys. Hopefully a few of our young guys step up and we really hit home runs in our draft.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.

Who's going to be there with outstanding value for us at #26?
TT will assess his draft pick based on value there opposed to trading back. I want TT to take the BPA on the OL or DL. That hard hitting FS may simply not exist @ #26.** Since 2006 3 X Pro Pickem' Champion; 4 X Runner-Up and 3 X 3rd place.

He seems to draft for value and need. If a need isn't dropping to him, it seems he'll move up or back to make sure he's getting good value for his spot. Lately, he's been moving up more and more.Originally posted by rbaloha1 View PostTT is drafting for need -- everything else is a smokescreen.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.

Assuming we get and stay relatively healthy, I think we're in pretty good shape. We need some young guys to step up. Especially at LB. We need Perry to bookend Matthews, and we need Bishop and Smith healthy. How good we are next year, I think, we'll depend on the health of Bishop, Smith, Bulaga, and the WRs that are left (and Rodgers, of course)--and the progress of Perry and McMillian."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson
