Keep one thing in mind, Coston is over a year younger than Colledge, he is almost a year younger than Spitz, he is even several months younger than Moll. They said last year that he still had a teenager's body, and would take some time to mature.

I'm not saying age is everything, some people mature physically much earlier than others. But I wouldn't give up on Coston just yet. Not for another year at least. Mike Wahle was a younger guy too when he first got to Green Bay, and it took him until his fourth season before he became established as a starter. They couldn't decide if he was a guard or a tackle either, just like what is happening with Coston.

As for Moll, if he is just "adequate" this year, it will be a pretty amazing story.
Patler, as usual, your depth of knowledge is appreciated. I did not realize Coston was so young. And please don't take my post as I'm giving up on Coston. I'm just surprised about all the hype and now he's been bounced around from position to position.

Not being anywhere near GB, I rely on camp reports and Coach interviews. Granted, coaches are going to hype up their players and maybe I'm a little naive to believe every word they say, but I thought the consensus was, Coston looks great, is versatile and would be starting. Didn't Jags even say he wanted to draft him last year? I'm really shocked that Moll is starting and not Coston.

Who would they replace Moll with? Whittiker? Moll has only had 5 practices at RG before playing in a game. He will get better, and will be their best option, even if he struggles against the best DTs.

Atlanta's line might be darn good this year. Coleman is the best pass rushing DT in the league. Now, they have John Abraham to pair with Patrick Kerney. I don't think you can draw much of a conclusion from a few series in a meaningless preseason game though.

Interesting question Iron Mike. Someone here will likely answer that.

Moll starting scares me. It's crazy to think that a college TE last year, gains 50 lbs to play tackle and is going to be a starting guard in the NFL. He's never played guard in his life and all of a sudden he's beating out all the other prospects on the Packers roster to start at the RG position. Not to take anything away from the kid, but this is unheard of. I agree he did ok against Atlanta's DTs, which imo are nothing to write home about, but he is going to get schooled when they play Chicago. I'll be rooting for the kid, but I don't think he keeps his job all season long.

Coleman has had 10.5 and 11.5 sacks the past two seasons. For a DT, thats very impressive. He's a great player.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, I haven't re-watch the tape, but I don't think Coleman played all that much. However, the point of my thread wasn't to take anything away from the Atlanta Line or Coleman personally. But compared to Chicago's line, well, there is no comparison. My point is, Moll is inexperienced for his body and the position. This scares me. But, I'm not an expert and I rely on the coaches to put the best players on the field. I'm just really surprised that Moll is starting where he is.
Damn right no comparison, Atlanta's might be better!

Overall I think this is a good move by MM, but I hope he is willing to adjust if this line doesn't show improvement through the first couple weeks of the season.
