  • Packers may have offer on the table for jennings

    Source: Rob Demovsky on Twitter

An NFL source tells the Green Bay Press-Gazette free agent Greg Jennings could return to the Packers if he hasn't signed with another team by midnight Wednesday.
It implies Jennings has a standing offer from the Packers, one he might take if no one betters it over the next six hours. It would be a thudding end to free agency for a player who's spent weeks publicly pumping up his stock, but perhaps best for all involved.

Let's hope no other team signs him by midnight! That would be great if we resign him like we did James Jones. Now bring on Steven Jackson and Canty!!!

Greg Jennings could spurn Vikings offer, stay in Green Bay
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 12, 2013, 7:22 PM EDT

Free agent receiver Greg Jennings appeared to be so sure he was leaving Green Bay that he put his house in Wisconsin up for sale. But now it appears that Jennings has a decent chance of staying with the Packers.

Although Jennings was interested in a reunion with Joe Philbin in Miami, the Dolphins didn’t show a lot of interest and are now out of the running after signing receiver Mike Wallace. That leaves the Vikings as the team reported to have the most interest in Jennings, but Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports that it’s both the Packers and the Vikings who are expressing interest.

Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that if Jennings hasn’t signed with another team by midnight, returning to the Packers is a possibility.

What it may come down to is whether Jennings takes the Vikings’ offer or decides to stay in the only place he’s ever played in his seven-year NFL career. It might just be easier for Jennings to take his house off the market and remain in Green Bay.

Me, too. If he goes to Minnesota...who the hell is going to throw to him?? Ponder isn't the answer. If he wants a little more money and the title of number one receiver...go to the Vikings. If he wants paid well, multiple chances at the Super Bowl and to play in a stadium that doesn't smell like ass...stay in Green Bay.

I don't get why Indy didn't jump at him. They have cap room, a good young quarterback, and Jennings is certainly considered an above average talent and a way above average locker room guy.

Did they make some other move at WR?

If he comes back, maybe AR can give him some lessons in carrying out a league-wide chip-on-your-shoulder revenge-is-a-dish-best-served-cold you-coulda-had-this-chump season for the record books.

Indy needed the cash so they could afford that most excellent linebacker, Erik "I'm not a" Wal
              Den.

                WHOA

packers seem very serious about keeping jennings

Greg Jennings - WR - Packers

A source tells ESPN Milwaukee's Jason Wilde that the Packers previously made free agent Greg Jennings a $10M per year offer.
If true, it's shocking. The Packers were thought to have moved on from Jennings, instead focusing on a very capable receiving trio of Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and James Jones. This news suggests that they are very open to bringing Jennings back. It's unlikely he'll fetch more than $10M per year on the open market -- even from a receiver-needy team like the Vikings.

I would be shocked if the Pack offered Jennings ten mil a year. I'd rather have Finley for one year at 8.5. Any word how many years?

I would only be happy to get Jennings back at a bargain, say 15 million over two years with a six mil cap hit this year and a not gonna be here number for the 2nd year.

I would be downright disappointed to have him back at anything more than 9 mil a year.

And I couldn't even begin to wrap my head around it if we paid him 10 or more.

The only argument that makes sense with some of the bigger numbers would be that we are taking a 4 mil dollar bath to keep the vikings from being better.

I was just going to post the Wilde thing. He was on the radio answering a question we asked here a while ago: did the Packers even make an offer to Jennings or were they so far apart they didn't bother?

Wilde was told recently (this was apparently before anyone knew the offer might still be on the table-) that the Packers did indeed make a serious (for them) offer.

Whether that offer is still on the table OR if this is just agent rumor is anyone's guess.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

But Ted has never operated that way.

i was just looking at a few vikings forums and theres no chatter or talk at all about them talking to jennings

its looking like we're keeping him

fritz, i don't see anything on how long it is. could be the "source" is jennings agent trying to get a price out there to get someone else involved

so you're saying the packers might not even have the 10 million a year deal on the table anymore?
