here's maybe a guy to look at

When we noted last week that British discus thrower Lawrence Okoye had decided to put track and field on hold and try to make it in the NFL, we wrote that it seemed unlikely he would be drafted.

    Lawrence Okoye
    6'6 307 pound, 4.78 40 time
he a british discuss thrower who's never played football in his life. he just went to the texas regional combine and it looks like he put on quite the show

how long do you figure it would take a guy from having zero football knowledge, but all the god given talent in the world, to be able to contribute

        lets say average learning ability

        1 year, 2 years?

        4 years,5?

        is it even possible?

margus hunt is in the same class, and he still has a lot to learn after 2 or 3 years playing

is learning the finer points of football really that difficult when dealing with someone with an intelligence level above that of a 4th grader?

i guess it also depends on the teacher. we all know james campen couldn't teach a 10 foot high circular brick wall how to make a pocket for a QB

Depends on the position. I've seen guys with no previous American Football experience contribute pretty much from day 1. An Aussie rules player ended up being a special teamer, a specialty punter on 3rd and short...guy could kick equally well with both feet, and was a real threat to take off. An English rugby winger ran a ridiculous sweep. We also had some guy we called crazy legs...guy was a like a runaway train. Didn't play in high school, but was hell of a gunner on ST.

DL though, would be tougher of course, learning the stunts and stuff. But I bet you could find a place somewhere on the field for him.

I was listening to Tim and Pat on Sirius XM NFL Radio today and they were interviewing a prospect named Mike Hill from Missouri Western (a D2 program), and talking about how he lead all divisions in rushing yards. I found this interview article about him, and an embedded YouTube video. Click here for the link.

I would love it if Green Bay got someone like this as an UFA. He looks kinda shifty, and has good vision, and the video shows him picking up blitzes and blocking for some boundary plays. Tim and Pat were asking him for his measurables and it sounded like they were really impressed with his short-area burst. These are the perfect UFA's but who knows, someone might take a late round flyer on this guy.

A Missoiri Western RB and wore NO.22.

                He's a 5'-10" and 210 lbs. RB / KR with about 4.6 Sec./40

                Rated 34 of 176 RB's 451 of 2509 draft eligible football players.

                Evidently his stock is rising.

Michael Hill seems like a sharp kid. I like how this article talks how his pro-day stats rank vs. other RB's at the combine (where he was not invited). Pretty favorable for a D2 guy. This guy was also the MVP of a college all-star game vs. several SEC guys. Click here to read the article.

Barring injury, something tells me this kid might have a decent shot at making a team.
