  • Tommy Kelly?

The Raiders just released Tommy Kelly. He's a little long in the tooth, but also a good size fit for a 3-4 DE at 6'6", 325 lbs. Worth a look? I vaguley remember him being decent a while back, but as I don't follow Oakland I don't know much about him.
    Comments?

This is the guy the Raiders signed to a huge contract a few years ago, and no one could understand why.

He got one of Al Davis's scholarships and was as overpaid as any other Raider but did eventually show some of the pass rushing 3-tech player that Al Davis thought he could be. Last season without Seymour he wasn't very productive and since he was never particularly good against the run I'm not sure he's got any use left. I don't think he could unseat Neal or Daniels as an interior pass rusher at this point.

                2007 season
Kelly played in 7 games in 2007, recording 30 tackles and 1 sack[2] before suffering a season ending knee injury while playing against the Tennessee Titans.[3] He was placed on injured reserve by the Oakland Raiders on October 31, 2007.[4]

                2008 Offseason
On February 28, 2008, the Oakland Raiders signed Kelly to the largest contract ever given to a defensive tackle on the eve of free agency. Kelly, a defensive end moving to defensive tackle in 2008, signed a seven-year, $50.5 million contract with $18.125 million in guarantees and$ 25.125 million in the first three years .[5]
Kelly's agent must have had incriminating pictures of Al Davis.
