Pedestrian? You are being kind. They are pathetic. This guy won't be in camp for more than two weeks. Then again, neither would Fontenot. I don't think this trade even deserved its own thread.

Practice squad is the same as cutting. Any team can sign them off the practice squad.
Yes and you have to cut them first and have them clear waivers before they can be placed on the PS.

I don't mind the trade though, just seems kind of useless to me. Browns got the better end of the deal because they needed some more CBs.
We have bodies, but not quality. GB has Driver, Jennings, probably Ferguson and a whole bunch of question marks, including Gardner. I think Boerigter will be gone soon, probably to reach the first roster cutdown, and I think Rodgers has played his way off the final 53. I expect Rodgers might be signed to the practice squad if no one picks him up, but if he signs elsewhere, so what?

If this guy can actually catch a punt and take 3 or 4 steps without falling down, he will be a valuable addition!

Those return stats look pretty pedestrian, and against small school opposition. Plus, he barely did returns his senior seasons.

What looks interesting are his receiving stats his junior year... not too shabby.
With, what looks like, lack of talent behind Driver and Jennings, they are probably hoping for a decent young receiver.
And obviously, who gives a shit about Fontenot?

I'm just mad we didn't sign OG Joe Berger. A couple people even talked about him on here prior to the 05 draft, which I thought was pretty cool since I've actually met the guy.

He went to Michigan Tech, which is up in the UP.

This trade make sense. Fontenot would not make final roster or practice squad and the Browns are desperate at CB.

In return the Packers get Brewster who was 2ND ALL TIME in receiving at Ferris State.

Brewster was 9th on the Browns WR depth chart.

Do NFL teams continue to scout these fringe players throughout training camp? I wouldn't think the Pack had 32 scouts to cover all camps around the league. I'm sure they keep stats and records from the draft, but those are out the window once the pads go on in an NFL camp like with C. Rodgers and to a lesser degree Colledge.

Signed as a rookie free agent by the Cleveland Browns on 4/30/06.

"A 2005 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America honoree, Brewster paced Ferris State in receiving this season for the third consecutive year with 60 catches for 921 yards and seven TD’s in 11 games. Along with the AFCA honor, Brewster received D2Football.com All-Northwest Region First-Team laurels and was a repeat All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First-Team selection this fall. The 5-11, 214-pound wideout, who garnered Ferris State Most Valuable Offensive Skill Player Award accolades for the second straight season, totaled five 100-yard plus receiving performances, including a season-best 137 yards and two TD’s on eight catches against Northern Michigan (10/15)." - Ferris State Sports Department

Scout the game tapes maybe, but not every preseason game. Not enough bodies.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

This is true, but IIRC you have to sign them to your final active roster. If Cory's not showing enough to make the final roster here with GB's suspect depth, where else would he? I think he'll end up on the PS & stick there...I'd bet those reports of his punt drops will get around & scare off most teams.

Not to say that the PS is Siberia, or that his drops can't be fixed. I think a year or a half season there would do worlds of good for a young receiver's development in learning GB's version of the WCO.

Rodgers hasn't really impressed as WR. As a Punt Returner, he is a train wreck. He can follow Boerigter out the door. Outside shot at PS
