  • NFL players are getting LARGER

In 1989, Tony Mandarich was considered enormous for an O-lineman at 310-315 pounds. He was the only Packer who topped 300.
Now, the guys at 310-315 for O-line are considered to be on the smaller side.

Before that the Fridge was over 300 lbs and football folks said he was simply too fat to play effectively.

Of course, around the same time, the Redskins decided that Bostic (I think Jeff but there might have been another one in the League) at center for the Hogs was too light at 260. He was replaced by one of their Guards I think.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

...and before that, Gale Gillingham was considered very big for a guard at 260.

Wasn't there an OT available this year who was around 400#?

For that matter, wasn't there one a couple years ago who did get drafted at 380 or something like that? What ever happened to him?
