  • Packer Report ‏@PackerReport 1m
Former Wisconsin QB Scott Tolzien will be added to #Packers practice squad on Sunday, according to a source.

Sometimes that Packer Report guy is seriously dialed in. He called this 2 hours ago when Tolzien's name hit the wire.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

A 4-3 team would have grabbed him. I think they are hoping to get Miller to PS.

      • I'm pleased they kept Mulumba. I'm OK with Coleman at backup QB. He's got experience in the system and a better arm. Good for Josh Boyd. TE's kept were good choices. Bottom-line TT and MM did a good job.

Minor changes are yet to come, I think.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

I suggested this earlier but folks have collected intel that Starks had a miserable camp with the Chargers. I do know the Steelers tried to get rid of him for years.

Tolzien was said by observers to have "pluck" but lacked the tools needed to play in NFL.

The dude doesn't lack in size. He may have lost a lot in the last three years, which could be an understatement, but I'd bring him in for a tryout at right tackle. Don't let him even get a sniff at left. I remember him being a fairly solid RT, but teams for some reason tried to push him over to LT, and he struggled mightily. The Steelers franchised him as an RT in 2009, and resigned him for 1 season last year which he started all 16 games in. I'm not saying he's the future, or that we should necessarily even sign him, but it wouldn't hurt to bring him in for a tryout. You can't teach 6-8, 345. No chance in hell it happens, but it's a good thought.

              • Panther's cut David Gettis, a 6-3 220 lb. wide receiver with great hands. I watched him this preseason and was impressed. Great route runner and has quickness. He's injured so he'd be long term project.

Another possibility is Jimmy Clausen, 6-2 210 QB who I always liked. Might benefit from Packers system and coaching and turn into something special.

Can't believe they kept Boyd and cut Miller. Absolutely mind numbing...

Just goes to show you that TT will spit on superior talent and keep guys he's drafted just b/c he has a pick invested in them.

Miller was light years better than Boyd - comparison wasn't even close. This is just plain stupid.

I'm thinking long term - once Spraypaintedhair gets fired, we're going to need DL again

Keeping Boyd over Miller - I am super pissed about that.

That is just TT keeping a guy b/c he drafted him - Boyd showed less than nothing, and Miller looked like a player. This is just TT being an anal asshole about his precious draft picks.

Agree about dumping Miller over Boyd. Boyd's impact was zilch.

Miller that year on PS with the Bears. It showed. Boyd was clueless with his hands (feet, too.)

I can't think he had much upside, he sooo far away from being an NFL DT.

I think Boyd vs Miller is the wrong argument here. If my count is correct, TT kept 8 OL and 8 DL. Given the relative talent level of the 2 groups, he could have kept 9 DL and 7 OL. It's hard to justify keeping 8 on the OL. Only 6 were really worth keeping, although I agree you have to keep 7, at least until Sherrod is ready to play. I don't have a problem so much with keeping Boyd. The Packers are a draft and develop team. Some guys need more than a month to develop. I just find it hard to justify keeping both Van Roten and Taylor.

Miller or Boyd? Who cares. I watched all four preseason games, I don't see what all the fuse is about with Miller.
