  • Team 93

    http://www.packersnews.com/article/2...3-2013-Packers

McCarthy apparently gave an offseason talk about this being the 93rd Packers team in history. Several players have taken up that designation as a point of distinction between what may have happened last year versus this year.

Reporters are apparently hearing this alot when discussing the 49er game.

However, I wonder if Team 93 might have a meaning no one as quite picked up on yet. :

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Somebody tell Wist we now know why Boyd made the team.
    I can't run no more
    With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
    Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
    A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

He carried 93 pounds of trapezius muscles, could broad jump into a pickup truck, and his Burger King sandwich was reeal good.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

Man, he was a joy to watch. Thanks Denver for ruining his knees.

Getting rid of Walden was addition by subtraction.

Well, damn. That means the version of the team seven years from now will assuredly suck ass.

This will be their theme song:

It was really Tampa Bay and Indianapolis. Both teams went after his legs deliberately earlier in the 1997 season. I was at Indy and saw them go after him - he, the whole Packer bench, and defense were screaming at the refs and the Indy lineman. Don't think that made the tube. bastards. If you think about it, injuries to Gilbert in 1995 (at SF, Divisional round) and during the '97 season severely limited him, and alone may be responsible for the Packers not getting a three-peat.

Was going to say John Teerlinck, but he is a D line coach. There was a coach at Indy I believe known for those tactics I believe. I remember it being a relatively big issue locally at the time.

I am sure you are correct. I just remember some bush league stuff going on during that SB. (Not that the Pack didn't tank.)

Was that the game where a winless Indy team knocked off the Pack? I remember the defense getting shredded in that game.

                              5 Names

                              Eddie Lacy
                              David Bakhtiari
                              Don Barclay
                              Datone Jones
                              Nick Perry

Five guys that I think will ultimately decide how successful this team will be. (Obviously, Rodgers staying healthy is the #1 factor, but that pretty much goes without saying.) I know we have a lot of bodies on the DL, but this team needs a couple of complements to Matthews. Maybe not All-Pro compliments, but Jones needs to provide a pass rush on the DL and Perry needs to be a good complement at LOLB (I'd be satisfied with stout run defense and bull rushing his way to 7-8 sacks). If these five guys have good seasons, I'll feel very good about our chances. They don't need to be world beaters, but they need to be solid.
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson
