I think it's remarkably realistic in the same way that "Fargo" hit the nail right on the head.

Did tourism increase in Fargo after the movie came out? What would a tourist do in Fargo?

Maybe they want to see where Jerry Lundegaard made the contract.

HH is right. You guys need to quit acting like flying monkeys. Jordy makes a fine Dorothy.
I like this explanation for it.

The Wisconsin tourism industry must've taken a huge hit since... um... well...

Is "Wisconsin Tourism Industry" really even a thing?

Yes...lots of small towns live off of tourism. Hell there is even an advertising campaign for Verona. Not that the town is bad but I can't see visiting there at a tourist.

That one baffles me. Its a nice bedroom community. Good amateur theatre group. Very nice, new library. Big business moved there onto large campus, but they don't do tours of medical software. They have a man made beach on a pond.

Off the top of my head, the most touristy things about it is access to city and state bike trails plus the Ice Age Trail.

I wouldn't travel there. I WOULD live there though.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
