Absolutely terrible coaching decision. If you are up 6 and you get the ball first in the second half and the other team looks like they just want to run out the clock, you let them.

it doesn't matter if its a 3 or 6 point game. the D is gonna give up a touchdown to end the game anyways

Oh, no. Calling timeouts to force punt on 2nd and 6. Not good.

I have disliked MM's strategy of calling timeouts for the other team late in the half every time he does it. All it does is allow the team time to realize that they can in fact move the ball on us and then they still have the time to do so. The Lions likely would have had only 60 seconds after that first 3rd down completion, and after the sack they may have not even tried to score. But since MM called timeouts for them, the Lions got 3 points. Terrible strategy. When you add the fact that our offense is playing very poorly and would likely not score in a 2 minute drill anyway, the strategy makes even less sense.

Jimmy Johnson just described a defensive approach that HAS NOT OCCURRED in the actual game. Its been all nickel with six in the box for Bush.

Nothing new from MM. He does this every chance he gets. It almost never works out for us.

Agree. McCarthy gets a minus game for coughing up 3 points to a pathetic Lions offense.

I agree. The defense didn't look so spectacular this year that he could be all that confident they wouldn't do...just what they did.

Wow. The Lions without their premier player, and their second-best wide receiver out, too, and the Packers can manage only a three point halftime lead?

What is wrong with this offense? They seem to run in fits and spurts. It's awfully, awfully inconsistent. And I must say MM's playcalling is getting worse, I think.

Third and one, been running the ball well, and you call a screen after your offensive blockers demonstrated they couldn't make the cut block on that type of play last week?

Not having solid pass protection but seriously good run blocking means Rodgers and McCarthy have an offense they aren't familiar with. They need to get familiar with it soon.

You're right, it does have its places. I would not feel confident trying it today after watching how the offense played the first half.
