Nobody does pre-game analysis like Red does pre-game analysis.

I found his anal lysis to be particularly incisive and penetrating today.

Game doesn't start for 7 hours.

                    interesting sub plot is developing

word is that this could be jared allens last game in purple. he is on the trade block, could be gone by tuesday

he's in the last year of his contract and the quennies want better then a third rounder for him. he's a great player and all, but you just don't get second rounders for a guy who's gonna be a free agent in a couple of months

According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, the Vikings are unwilling to trade Jared Allen for any less than a third-round pick.
The Vikings could get a 2014 third-round compensatory pick if Allen left in 2013 free agency, so this is a logical approach. Glazer reports the Vikings have discussed trading Allen "some," and would be willing to trade him "for the right price." The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4PM ET.

Maybe a few grammar lessons will help the thread.

Nobody brings it like Red brings it.

How drunk will you be by game time, Red?

I think the Vikes are dangling Allen in hopes someone's dumb enough to give up a second for him. And maybe someone will be.

Oh, wait. Al Davis is dead and Matt Millen is long gone. Hmmm....

                          Not today, sorry.

Grammar Girl & I went to a hell of a party and overdid it on the festivities. Then we went back to my place and did polysyllabic things involving correlative conjunctions with my dangling modifier until we had multiple colloquialisms leaving us exhausted & taking us into until the wee hours.

Woke up with a hell of a hangover and mysterious injuries in places I didn't know I had.

The quote from Glazer sheds light on the reason. The team that has him on their roster at the end of the year is pretty much guaranteed to get a 3rd round comp pick for him, so why would Minny trade him for a 3rd? They'll get that anyways, so as long as they don't have to shed salary (I haven't heard they need to) keep him around. A 3rd rounder from a team would be a fewpicks higher than the comp pick, but given that they'd be trading him to a playoff team, not more than 10 picks or so.

edit: well, they'd get the pick this year, and popular opinion is that a year moves a pick up by a round, so a 3rd this year is equivalent to a 2nd next. So ya, they should accept a third. Bird in the hand and all that crap.

The big difference is they could get a guaranteed 3rd round pick in the 2014 draft by trading him, and save half his salary ($7 million or so, his 2013 salary is $14M) from this year as an extra to carry forward to next year. If they let him go in FA after the season, they lose the salary and hope to get a 3rd round pick in 2015, not 2014,

They would be much farther ahead to trade him now for a third, maybe even a 4th.
