  • Former Badger, John Moffitt, quits

Told Denver he just doesn't want to play anymore and will not come back after their bye. Super Bowl possibility holds no interest for him:

Was this the guy who seemed obsessed with football, or was it his running mate at guard for the Badgers a few years ago?

Moffitt majored in sociology at Wisconsin and said his world view was really shaped over the last couple of years when he began studying the writings of the Dalai Lama and Noam Chomsky.

        Yeah. They get smarter.

And possibly discover the wonders of high grade marijuana.

I always suspected that was the secret reason for the humidor in Coors Field.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

He was a real nut job at the UW
I can't remember his playing partner....but another pro prospect......
these two would jokingly go at it on the sidelines anytime something went wrong
and they would constantly give each other hell about who is playing better.

At least he's going out with a bunch of money and 2 functional knees and a healthy back. Much more than most NFL lineman can say. He figures better to walk away than need to use a walker.

Not if he gets hit by your goat!
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

John Moffitt "loves the game" but he's so not having fun so he's leaving.

Robert Smith quit early. So did Ricky Williams (and then came back). They had their reasons, strictly health in Smith's case, but "not having fun" to the extent that you want to leave in the middle of the season on a winning team led by a HOFer QB who can take you to the Super Bowl? Seems impulsive to me.

I wonder how hard the Broncos have tried to change his mind.

If he's set for life financially and has his health, what more does he need? If he doesn't care about a Super Bowl ring, I say good for him. Too many guys get their brains all fucked up on the offensive line.

Looks like Moffitt received about 1.8 million out of a 2.9 million contract. Take out agent's commission and a 4 game suspension in 2011 and he probably got 1.5 million.
