Mason Crosby will be getting a pink slip next week if he fubars again like he did yesterday.Originally posted by pbmax View PostThe coach fire talk must have been going on in the press box/media room after his comments came to light about taking care of it on Monday. Its a case of 2+2 = 5. Yes, there are definite problems that keep emerging. but McCarthy really didn't hint that he thought it was a coach and he emphatically denied it was scheme on the big pass plays.
The line that you get what you tolerate means players who have kept up the same non-sense are in trouble. I really doubt its the coach."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

The hammer must have been one of those inflatable ones. Here's the notes from his presser:
A whole lot of nothing there.(reoccuring issue) Not playing best football in 4th quarter. We don't have a drill for it on Mondays, but have been emphasizing. We need to be better.
(What is it) You have to look at calls. We've played nine games, time for our locker room to step up. All this conversation, we're talking about who's not here. We need to focus on what the hell we're doing. It's important to know we're listening to the right things. We've had a lot of change, just haven't overcome it. Had opportunities to do that. Offensive production was very good. Defensively, we gave up three TDs over the top. Can't do that in any game. Opportunities were there, these things are coming up routinely.2025 Ratpickers champion.

M3 says recurring issue is poor 4Q play.
Wouldn't think it's being tired from a TOP standpoint. Seems like an issue with tackling and focus to me. Entire secondary had a very bad game...and seems like that's happened often in 4Q this year.

Then red..... you were upset after that Packer - Eagle non-performance by the Packer 'D'.Originally posted by red View Posti like how all the stories talk about how McMikes Irish temper came out last night
bull fucking shit
My irish temper would have walked into that locker room after the game with baseball bat, swinging and smashing whatever the fuck got in my way
This team can't tackle. Evidence of that is that the ST's are 31st on Punt returns and 31st on kick returns.
Look at the total number of tackles in that game at 47 and 'only' 4 assisted tackles. With a pocket passer like Nick Foles why? wasn't there more pressure on him? I realize we won the battle of the clock 34:24 mins possession but that tackling performance across the board is alarming.
Why does it seem that BJ Raji and Pickett were invisible? I realize that they hold down the center of the DL but between them zero tackles?

A whole lot of, "nothing" which is pretty much what I thought he would say. I've been hearing, "We've gotta fix that" from him for a long time regarding a number of things that never get fixed so I don't expect anything else. I really don't know what can be done at this point of the season and I don't think there are any wholesale changes that Stubby can make that will do anything except maybe send a message that nobody's jobs is safe. Hell, is our defense all of a sudden going to learn to put pressure on a QB, make a tackle, catch an interception, force a fumble or cover a receiver just because he yells at them, tells them that they have to do better or fires a couple of people. I don't think so.
Due to the injuries and the way this season has been going I think you just have to ride it out and hope that the team starts playing with a little more intensity and a sense of urgency which I haven't seen so far. With all the resources we've devoted to trying to fix the D the past couple of years I'm pretty disappointed with the results so far. I still believe that overall the "draft and develop" strategy is probably the best but at some point I think Ted has to start looking at adding a proven player or two to the mix because we seem to be whiffing on a number of draft choices that aren't having much of an impact. We still haven't been able to find anyone who can create any type of consistent pressure to compliment CM III and IMO it's time for Tramon Williams to go. He's our highest paid D player and he has no positive impact whatsoever. He just hasn't been the same player since he got paid and then hurt his shoulder. I think the big bucks you're paying him could be used to find a proven player on D who can make some plays or create some pressure.
From a coaching standpoint I've seen enough of Capers and Slocum and IMO I think it's time to make changes in both of those areas. With all of the players hitting free agency it will be interesting to see what Ted and MM do in the offseason and how they decide to shape this team for the future. I realize A-Rod has some good years left but he's not getting any younger and I'm starting to get concerned that we're going to piss away his career without getting another legitimate shot at the Super Bowl due to the issues with the rest of the team. We've been pretty damn lucky/spoiled with Favre and A-Rod back to back and there's no telling how long it could be before we find another stud QB once A-Rod is gone. Maybe we'll get lucky again and maybe we won't but who in the heck knows.
I've never been a huge Stubby fan for a number of reasons but I usually never say much about him and won't even get started on that subject. Nothing against him personally and he seems like a good man so my issues with him are strictly from a coaching and play calling standpoint. Overall I believe TT does a pretty good job but I think he's made his share of mistakes and I don't place him on the same pedestal as many people do. I just think that they're both somewhat stubborn in their approach sometimes and they need to start re-evaluating what they've been doing. I didn't come to these conclusions just because we've lost two games in a row either. These are things I've been thinking for the past several years. Having been a die-hard Packer fan since the mid-60's and suffering through the 70's, 80's and early 90's I'm definitely not spoiled and I do appreciate our overall winning record and the competitiveness of the team since Wolf and Favre came into the fold. I'm also realistic and understand that winning is difficult and you can't expect a Super Bowl every year or All-Pro players at every position due to the salary cap, parity, and the way the league is set up, but IMO it's time to start making some changes because currently the status quo isn't getting it done.

Running game. Run defense. And that is just this year.Originally posted by SMBASS View PostA whole lot of, "nothing" which is pretty much what I thought he would say. Speculation about Capers was just breathless guessing. Its the middle of the season. Only a fool for a coach like Forrest Gregg will dump his team into the lake trying to fix something in mid-season.
And it remains to be seen who starts next weekend on D.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
