  • Did you read Paul Zimmerman or DR. 'Z'? Are you aware of his health?

I used to read DR. Z:

"Zimmerman suffered a stroke on November 22, 2008, which, so far, has left him unable to walk or to communicate.[1] According to fellow SI writer Peter King's MMQB column, Zimmerman has also recently suffered two other strokes and is undergoing rehab in a New Jersey facility, at this time unable to speak and with right-sided hemiparesis."

I watched a feature story on DR. 'Z' while eating supper this evening.

Dr Z, former SI writer, still happy after strokes

" In case you were pondering the whereabouts of one of the most influential pro football writers of the past four decades, SI.com’s Peter King, in his MMQB, has a health update on former Sports Illustrated writer Paul Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, better known as Dr. Z, has reached the three-year anniversary of a series of three strokes that left him unable to read, write and speak, and for now, it seems the improvement of his health has plateaued.

King spoke with Zimmerman’s wife, Linda, last week, and even though her husband has limitations, he still keeps on top of the news regularly, maintains a positive attitude and exercises every day.

“We're not depressed,'' Linda told King. “I think it's because we have each other.”..."

Sports Illustrated Presents Dr. Z's Greatest Moments in Super Bowl History should be the most famous piece of sportswriting about football, period. So how come you’ve almost certainly never heard of it?

I really enjoyed his stuff. Glad to hear he is enjoying life, many stroke sufferers become angry and depressed permanently.
All tyrannies rule through fraud and force, but once the fraud is exposed they must rely exclusively on force.

He was in a wheel chair on the 'Special' on his current life that I watched last night .

He did seem very good under the circumstances of his life. He has a wonderful support in a Lady that truly loves and respects him and that fact of her support openly moved him during the shooting of this special.

I was in some shock because I wasn't aware of what happened to him. I simply imagined that he retired from writing.
