I can't believe all the sugarcoating going on around here. All is lost, now and forever.

Good god. It isn't the end of the world. It sucks we are having problems but this too will pass. 5 games ago we were 5-2 and all was well in the world. I submit MM will now finally do something about the direction of this defense this offseason. Aaron hid most of these warts but we can't ignore them now and this is a good thing!

I can't imagine how Aaron Rodgers being out changes anyone's approach to how they do their job from a fundamentals standpoint. When the defensive line and coaches meet and watch film and prepare on the practice field, do you think anyone is talking about Aaron Rodgers not being there when it comes to correcting assignments, making sure they are lined up correctly, making sure they use whatever technique they use to get off of blocks, etc.?

Sure, his ability to put pressure on the other team and score points, or at least drive the team and create field position issues for the other team does help the defense, but I can't imagine anyone on defense sitting there say, "A-Rod is not here, we can't do our jobs." We talk about Capers losing his job, but is a new DC going to make some of these guys better at their jobs? Maybe a new DC can get through to the guys we have better, but at the end of the day, it comes down to the guys winning one on one battles and being pros.

Roland 'the Gunslinger' exhausted and mortally wounded continues to trek north along the beach .... falling ...he crawls. He continues his quest for 'the Dark Tower'.

I'm inspired this day as a Packer fan by the writing of Stephen King.

                Hey KY...

I thought the boys in the Pro Pickem we're all about spot on electing CP's for the Steelers @ Ravens game last night. I want more Packerrats trying the Pro Pickem next season but the ten that submitted yesterday are solid. The Pro Pickem is such an interesting challenge.

I certainly don't want to jinx him (well he doesn't post here much now) so what the heck.

It looks to me like we'll see our first two-time Champion crowned in another four weeks.

The Raiders at Dallas game was intriguing for awhile. As usual an interesting contest between the Ravens and Steelers ... great rivals. I'm impressed with the way Big Ben handles himself and especially the way he communicates with his HC. That finish last night put a real meaning on the word...intense.

Damn I was hoping that the Steelers would manage that tie and push the game to OT. Shit they had to score three times for 'six'. Roth made two throws there that should have been hauled in. He just glides the ball to his target without too much on it.

The officiating in the NFL is beginning to dominate so much now. It's become such a factor in terms of determining outcomes.

Sometimes I just scream at the screen. I get up close and personal with it. It's like back in the day and a good bar fight.

                F. . k ! I can become agitated...over the officiating in some games. They miss the obvious and see shit that no one else can without instant review in slow motion and that in different camera angles. It's like why not referee the game from up top and allow the computer to make the final calls.

The NFL is now a story of too much officiating and too much protection or in the extreme nature to a detriment.

When and where and who to tackle. Equipment on and off and disregarded and mishandled.

I say throw the game back to the sandlot. Re-discover how it all began.

I'd say the take-away news from this thread is that King Friday is a fan of romance novels. Of course my use of "now and forever" is also suspicious, must have picked it up from an old Betty Davis movie.

Would it make anybody feel better to know that the last time the Packers looked this bad on Thanksgiving Day was with Lombardi's greatest team? The 1962 Packers were 10-0 going into Detroit and were humbled 26-14. The final score doesn't tell the story. The Packers were down 26-0 until 2 meaningless 4th quarter TD's. Bart Starr was sacked 10 times and intercepted twice. The Packers had 122 yards total offense, and fumbled 5 times, losing three.

Love the inspiring analogy but unfortunately 10-0 is not the same as 5-5-1

No inspiring analogy intended. Just pointing out even great teams can have a really bad day now and then.
