  • Peter King spends a week with NFL Refs

This is shaping up to be an interesting look inside the life of an NFL referee and crew:

The MMQB went behind the scenes with NFL referee Gene Steratore and his crew for an unprecedented look at the pressures and responsibilities of the third team on the field on NFL Sundays: the seven men in stripes who enforce the rules. In Part I, we meet—and agonize with—the boss

The men of Gene Steratore’s officiating team come from diverse walks and weekday jobs—teacher, stockbroker, housing director—but their common bond is a commitment to their craft, to each other and to getting the calls right on Sunday

“Now Keenum looks at me, like, ‘What the hell?’ I shook him off. I said, ‘No, no. This is a man’s game and you fell and got hit.’ ”

Thanks.. I'm heading out of the bush to town for a few hours and when I get back I'll consume this LINK above.

It also confirms in me an idea of a new thread I strongly believe must go down for discussion at Packerrats.

It seems to me that; it's on a issue of increasing importance more so now, than at any time in the past.

Can anyone guess what that thread will be about?

    Hint:

Think of a member of 'the horse and ass' family without any distinction.

Sorry, I stopped reading Peter King when I couldn't stand his non sequiturs on Starwood travel notes, Coffeenerdness, baseball, movies/TV, and beer tastings.
When he covers football he's ok, but all the other crap is just filler and I'd take a Scotch over a Shock Top anyday of the week (and with how the Packers are playing, thrice on Sunday).

Just my opinion; don't let it stop you from enjoying Peter King. Ever read kissingsuzykolber's skewerings? Some of those are pretty brutal.

Dr. Z had the good sense to limit his blabbing to the Flaming Redhead and wine back in the day; I liked his columns for the technical stuff and especially when he focused on OL/DL play. Too bad he had that stroke.
