Did you perhaps see a significant change in the running game from 2012? Was the run game soft in 2013?

2012, McCarthy watched film of the unbeatable at home Seahawks and he wanted to pass (on the road) against that all World secondary. Specifically, he or Rodgers wanted to go deep. It might have worked had Newhouse and Bulaga not decided to have career defining meltdowns. The only way this game is not a perfect metaphor for Bulaga's last two seasons is that he did not get injured in the game.

So that tells us some things (and if it tells you McCarthy is unqualified to coach I understand but you should pick another random thread to call me out with a 8,500 word post):

        1. McCarthy is a good film coach who generally can find the opponents weak spot. Why did he pick the secondary, specifically the deep secondary? Was it just because of man coverage and single safety? Was that even the defense they ran? Were the DBs all injured in that game? Was it Cobb's presence?

        2. Can Denver pass protect against Carroll's defense long enough to get deep?

        3. After the pass blocking self-immolated, McCarthy HAD to run, had modest success and came back in the game. It even opened up some things in the passing game. Can the Broncos run on Teenage Mutant Ninja Defense?

        4. A very mediocre Packer D kept the Packers in this game. Can Seattle's offense actually score enough points to defeat even a harassed Peyton Manning?
Interesting to compare 2012 Packers at Seattle to the Superbowl. Manning will not have to deal with noise, and will not have to deal with very Stubby coach who refuses to change game plan until giving up close to 10 sacks.

1 - Why do the Packers seem to go into bombs away mode after playing patient and moving the chains all game? Big play mentality? Lack of patience?

2 - I think so. But they don't even need to get deep, their talent with Thomas/Welker/Decker/Thomas should be enough to open up the middle of the field. Though the Broncos were #1 in protection this year.

3 - They should be able to. Or at least run well enough to make them respect the run.

4 - They'll score, but it will be up to Wilson to play lights out. Manning won't make the mistakes Kaepernick did, and Fox/Manning's gameplan won't be as terrible as the Saints.

Plus the whole lack of the 12th man thing.

Have we heard enough about Manning struggling in the cold? Will Pete Carroll follow the Bungalo Bill scheme and defeat Peyton by mangling receivers? I say yes to the latter and no to the former. I want more cold weather talk.

I agree Manning will not attack deep just to do it, though I am curious if we learn anything about why McCarthy thought it was there. He will do his usual overload, or level routes and let the defense choose to leave a receiver open that he will throw to.

Weather could be a factor but the fore case keeps getting better. They are up to 41 last I saw and rain stopping before the game.

Seahawks will definitely mug the receivers, curious if they have someone to match up on Welker.

In any typical kind of game, not sure if Wilson can score enough. Harvin could make a difference but every time you count on him, something goes south.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Manning has never lost a game in cold weather when he was wearing a glove on his throwing hand.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

Original Super Bowl Trophy designed by Oscar Riedner for Tiffany & Co. and awarded to the Green Bay Packers after Super Bowl I, is on display in a Newark Museum celebrating the city's history as a center of silversmiths and precious metalwork. Also site of one of the only official tailgates at the Super Bowl.

I wonder how much the refs will protect the Broncos WRs this game. They've let them play thus far...but with this being Manning's "legacy" game...you may see those yellow flags fly faster.

                        fore case?

Forehead got dented alright. Seattle owned him.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Broncos get clubbed like that.
                              Great game.
