  • NFL to penalize use of N-word, racial slurs

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10...al-slurs-games

So what will it be? Just the N-word, or a whole list of words?

Which N-words exactly will be banned? Will Niggas and Niggaz be banned as well?

Bring in Julian Curry as a consultant!

A guy like Bill Leavy will never figure this out!

I think 'Cracker' should only be a five yarder.

Going to be at least 8 of 'em.

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Anytime anyone says 'Redskins' they get a penalty. Seems legit.

So the not-for-profit NFL which pays its commisioner Roger Goodell $44.2 million a year ($850,000 per week) wants to institutionalized thought and speech standards?

America's favorite sport is now its most obvious social Petri Dish.

Cue the selective enforcement, hypocrisy and double-standards. Yes, please, lecture your fan base on acceptable speech while media executives with NFL-ties promote artists and lyrics that popularize the very language they seek to ban on the field. It's all fine, except for those 3 hours on Sunday.

If the PC-NFL needs a worthy cause to promote then try 'Responsible Fatherhood' (or is that too heterosexual-centric and thus unfair to the remaining 3.4%?). How about encouraging men to MARRY the women they produce children with?

How about the for profit Steelers?

That's quite an overreaction. Sounds like they're saying NFL employees cannot use the word in their workplace. I couldn't use it in my workplace either if I wanted to.

Any parent knows that as soon as you 'ban' a word you get two reactions:
                            1) it gets use more and more
                            2) If you really get punished harshly, and effectively, for using a particular word, you just come up with something else

                            Joemailman, you are a parsnip!

This measure, according to PFT, stems from the incident between a Redskin (irony!) player and an official in a game last year.

Push against racial slurs traces to Ellison-Williams incident

The disconnect between the NFL under Goodell and a team like the Steelers tells you all you need to know about why Goodell struggles to implement change.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
