Maybe so, but they're the ones who keep watching us win the division.

I wonder how high it'll go with him. He's 32 and had a down year last year. Missed 3 games and had 6 sacks. He'll draw some interest, but I wonder if age/injuries will make teams cautious to throw a lot of money at him.

NFL Rumors: Jets, Giants and Dolphins want to sign James Jones
good for him. he's been a good player, has busted his ass, always did what he was told, and never complained

we're not gonna give him a big contract, but i hope he finally gets a nice payday from someone

I wouldn't be to proud of that this past season, it wasn't so much who was the best, but who sucked the least.

he was due 16 and he wouldn't take a pay cut

i wouldn't doubt someone gives him 10+, even if he is older and his numbers are starting to drop

If TT is going to sit on his checkbook as far as other free agents as usual, I would just as soon see him pay Jones and EDS.

This one getting away is really gonna bug me. It looks like TT has gone to:

"I really don't care about my own....mode. Let them get what they can. I'm simply cheap."

Ted Thompson has got to snap into gear this off season. I'm not at all sure if he even realizes it.

I do believe that Packer Nation is watching him very closely now. That "only" makes sense.

That's fine. All the worse that sorry team should feel then.

The fact of the matter is that this same stuff happens every offseason with Free Agency, and we see MN, Det, and Chi flit in between making and missing the playoffs while the Packers go about as steady in making the playoffs as they come in the modern NFL.

TT's tepid approach to FA works for consistency. All of his detractors are right - we may never make it over the top again, but we make the moves that keep us right there in competition. The other members of this division wish they could say the same, but with their approach to FA they'll just keep moving toward roster turnover, dumping of bad contracts, and new coaching hires.

Because all that matters in the end is that you "try" harder than other teams. Salary cap and depth be damned.

                    • You all can blame Joe Arrigo on Twitter. He keeps mentioning all these players that he'd like to see Green Bay sign, which means there's no way we're interested.

I think we're seeing a whole lot of former Packers in Free Agency this year.

I wouldn't be a bit surprized to see both James Jones (testing the market will exclude the Packers as he'll get decent money) and the same goes for our starting center last season... Evan Dietrich- Smith.

I expect both to sign elsewhere and I wanted both re-signed....along with Sam Shields ($$$$ signed for a lot of money $$$$), hybride OLB/DE Mike Neal and DE C. J. Wilson.

Am scrolling through these quickly and laughing. Good comments, everyone...keep them coming!

Also: Ware would be a monster signing for GB, but I'm skeptical it happens.

                              What's worse?

                              a) Spending what you have to spend to upgrade your team

                              or

                              b) Under utilizing the CAP space you have for marginal additions.

TT has a lot of CAP space and there is no good reason to not spend that CAP space on excellent additions to put the team back in the race for another legit Super Bowl run under TT's guidance.

                              GO PACK GO !

That's the safety I wondered if TT might pursue.

                                Nope.
