  • Unofficial 2014 Rookie Camp Reviews (off the record)

Alright, let's get the unfounded speculation started before OTAs kick off.

Demovsky: In talking to several people who got to watch more practice than the one session the media was allowed to attend, it sounds like that among the draft picks, the following players stood out: safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, center Corey Linsley, defensive tackle Khyri Thornton, plus receivers Davante Adams and Jared Abbrederis. Keep in mind, that was an extremely early analysis, but it sounds like those players definitely caught the attention of the coaches and scouts right away. As for the group of undrafted rookies, the gems from that class should start to shine as the OTAs progress over the next month.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

So Richard Rodgers, Carl Bradford, Demetri Goodson and Jeff Janis look like busts?
    I can't run no more
    With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
    Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up

They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

Can any of these guys handle hos in Vegas? That's what separates great rookies from pretenders.

        NO...

This Rob Demovsky report simply says:

That early in the 2014 Rookie Camp portion of the OTA's; among the 2014 draft picks, the following players stood out:

** Safety Hasean "Ha Ha" Clinton-Dix

        ** C- Corey Linsley

        ** DT Khyri Thornton

and *** WR's: Davante Adams and Jared Abbrederis ***.

        *** Note: RE: http://www.packers.com/

and Green Bay Packer fans paying attention.....

Which draft pick at wide receiver will make the biggest rookie splash?

        Davante Adams - 54%

        Jared Abbrederis - 38%

Jeff Janis - 9% (Then it may be assumed that WR Jeff Janis is conceived by the results of this poll to be an extreme longshot to make the 2014 Green Bay Packer Roster.

McGinn has a piece ready to go for next Sunday that questions if a healthy Thompson would ever make the Rodgers pick. Sources say he is thinking about retirement due to inability to scout TEs, therefore McGinn believes Ted will retroactively retire, to be dated Jan 2, 2014.

Is Ted Thompson suffering " NFL TE Identification Competency NOT " Syndrome. If so; that's a terrible fate !?

The Green Bay Packers need "a growing Ted Thompson". I'll be very surprized if TT retires inside of the next two seasons. I believe my insight is decently strong.

Translation: TT isn't going anywhere real fast. His ego needs his current job. What's he going to do as an alternative to a super job as the Green Bay Packers GM?

            Retire to become "a surfer"?

Maybe raise dogs or become an artist.

He's an NFL GM and that's where he'll remain as the challenge his life needs unless he has a serious health issue...like dementia setting in....or something else.

I hope for Ted Thompson that's NOT the case. That Ted Thompson is healthy and up to the difficult task of managing a great NFL organization.

I believe that TT is growing this off season when I just about had it with his dull style...his do nothing to not much approach to managing the Green Bay Packers.

I've had a lot of difficulty with his long absences and anti-social tendencies. I've always felt that Ted Thompson needs to become more visible...more informative/communicative. Lay it all out there for us to see and grade.

His "mystery style man" thing hasn't been attractive to me. I think I see some change. I believe he's growing ...will grow.

Ted Thompson may simply need to accept one thing. Maybe his ego needs a tweaking. Talent evaluation for the NFL is more miss than hit.

His ability to evaluate real NFL quality talent is about on par with most of the best NFL Team GM's.

Getting down to specifics and I'm now on record as:

Not being over joyed and ** the Richard Rodgers pick **, where TT made it. On a gut instinct basis and being a very long term Pro Sport fan that pick at the end of Round 3 was a disappointment to me. We needed to see more attention paid to our OL and DL.

** I always hope I'm wrong. ** That a pick might indeed be a real value to any Pro team I support.

Not a chance. Full pension doesn't kick in until September and he wants to get his hip replaced before he retires.

In this Press conference TT seems OK to me:

He looks stamped Green Bay Packers ...through and through.

                To the question:

How many drafts do you think you've got in you?

Look at this video and see for yourself his responses.

                He's asked:

                What keeps you going?

What's Ted Thompson's response to that question!?

                Looking at this video:

Ted Thompson is always in control.

GM Ted Thompson will remain the Green Bay Packer GM for the next two - three seasons (at least). I believe that Ted Thompson loves his job and responsibilities. I'm not sure I've ever seen Ted Thompson so candid before the camera (local media). I think he's growing.

GO Ted Thompson...GO PACK GO !

                Also while I'm here:

Head Coach Mike McCarthy on this 2014 class of Packer Rookies and the post DRAFT added UFA's. The opportunity all of these prospects have now that they have the attention of the Green Bay Packers.

McCarthy on rookies: "They act like they belong"

My observation: Mike McCarthy looks rested and set to go this season. He's as keen as ever.

These two Packer leaders have me thinking our 2014 season could be very special.

Kind of surprising that Thornton and Linsley stood out as they usually say you can't tell anything about linemen until the pads go on. As for the ones who didn't stand out, there could be many factors. OTA's are going to tell us a whole lot more. That's when we started hearing about Shields making plays every day and Flynn looking better than Brohm, etc.

Upshot, it's nice to hear about the top picks standing out, but take reviews about the rookie camp with a salt-lick sized grain of salt.

I predict that Flynn "will" look better than Brohm.

Rodgers will make the team; I'd have been happy with that pick...in round 5.
                      I do like Bradford.

No surprise Abrederis caught the coaches eye to me. He's a football player who studies and maxes out his skills and consistently outperforms. Guys who love measurables fall for guys like Dez Southward and Janis. Guys who love all around great football players who produce like Borland and Abrederis
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

don't lump Janis in with Southward. He had the production and has the measurables. his issue was mostly that he played at a small school in division 2

Photo shoots with trading card companies??? I think I'd rather see them in camp, especially with the limited amount of OTAs teams are allowed to have now. Really not good for rookies to miss them. You'd think the NFL could do a better job of scheduling, this could've been done anytime from the draft up to and including last week. Studpid.
