    Backup QBs in GB

    I commented in another thread that GB backups used to be better. Here are backups, probably with some errors, since Favre became starter

    I guess things have been sketchy the past three years.
    McMahon and Pederson were pretty bad. I think we remember Pederson fondly because he didn't have to play.

    Rick Mirer was also a backup along with Aaron Brooks, Henry Burris and the great Brian Brohm.

    Sherman tried copy to Wolf by signing vets such as Tim Couch and Akili Smith, but for some reason, things didn't work out. Should've signed Joey Harrington.

          Were Doug Pederson, Henry Burris or Craig Nall better than Flynn? Pederson was more awful than Flynn as a starter.
          Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

            Burris & Nall never ascended to the #2 throne in GB. I didn't realized how long Flynn had been in GB, the years go rushing by. He is a clipboard legend like Pederson. Maybe Flynn was better than Pederson, they are similar. I think Harrell, Wallace & Flynn were the only #2s who never got starting jobs in NFL.

              Pederson was terrible. The hand off king, even in a winnable game. I'm sure everyone is with me when I say that I miss the glory days of ole Ingle Martin from Furman, correct?

                  I'm sweet on Ty Detmer, he was a smart and accurate passer. He had a Flynn-like flurry of success in Philly after leaving Pack. I imagine McMahon was washed up.

                  Flynn has been a good backup (with emphasis on "has been".) Looking at the list, the only ones who are obviously better are the guys who went on to success as starters - Matt Hasselbeck, Mark Brunell & Eric Rodgers

                            He was there 3 years, the first year on the practice squad and two years on the regular roster.

                              Boy, did Seattle get the better end of that Hasselbeck trade...

                              March 5, 2001: Traded by Packers with 2001 1st round pick (17th overall, Steve Hutchinson) to Seahawks for 2001 3rd round pick (72nd overall, Torrance Marshall) and 2001 1st round pick (10th overall, Jamal Reynolds)

                              Reynolds and Marshall were both stiffs. Look at who they might have drafted instead, including Hutchinson. http://www.mynfldraft.com/2001

                              In the third round of 2001, the Packers could have drafted Steve Smith WR, Utah.
