Story is Toronto was the preferred destination but not in the running because of passport issues, and not enough time to sort them out. How stupid is that, really. A driver's license or birth certificate was enough to cross the border for a long time.--

Is that the case? I'm pretty sure Canadians need a one to go to the US. There is something about a 'enhanced' DL listed on the Canadian site, but the US gov site says passport only, even by land.
