  • Official drink up, it's the Patriots come to Green Bay game day thread

So, company Christmas party tonight, I'm bloody loaded (http://millstreetbrewery.com/#/ourbeers/ - drinking the 100th Meridian) and I figure I'm not going to be conscious in time for the 1pm kick-off. Don't want to be on record as the first schmuck ever to miss kick-off time to start the gameday thread, so here it is now!

Gut check game time, this one is huge. Top notch opponent, a win here is a big statement. After 2 weeks of silliness, the Packers game down to earth last week, and were reminded this is a league where parity rules.

So everyone's talking about Gronkowski. Well, he's a pretty formidable Pollock (or Ukrainian?) but really, it's not about him, it's Brady or bust for that team. I still think Bledsoe got a shitty deal, but 4 rings is 4 rings, right? Ok, I lied, Gronkowski scares me, and I don't trust the DL to pressure Brady enough.

Perry looks to be back, that's good news. It allows Mathews is freedom to roam, so reminiscent of Woodson's heyday. Give Mathews freedom to pick and choose his spots out there, and he'll be successful.

Another week, still healthy and even getting back Perry after a couple of weeks on the sidelines. Is this the year the Pack dodges the killer injuries? We can hope!

Well that's enough for me - night all, and catch you all at halftime!

I expect to see Revis on Nelson most of the day, because I think trying to cover him with Browner is a mistake Belicheck will not make. He doesn't have the speed to run with Nelson, and I think Jordy can battle physically with Browner as well, which is where Browner excels. Browner is a battler, and will match up well with Cobb. Adams and Quarless will be key.

That's what I'm seeing as well.

We need an all men on board from the get go from the entire defense. A solid game game at LBer and constant pressure on Tom Brady.

This game will come down to the Packer Vs New England 'D'.

This is a key to having any real chance of neutralizing Tom Brady to TE Rob Gronkowski and TE/WR Tim Wright:

The Packers defenders must face both of these Brady weapons up close and personal. If the Packer defenders play off either of these two men Brady will find them. This is especially true in the 'Red Zone'. Brady is extremely efficient in the Red Zone. He's close to automatic if the coverage on his targets soften up.

You must hit them just over the LOS. You must not play them 'soft'.

Having won seven of eight games, the Green Bay Packers have erased all memories of a disappointing start. Bucky Brooks breaks down the tape and explains what makes Aaron Rodgers and Co. so good.

Why does everyone think NE's defense is this juggernaut?

But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

Good news: High of 32 today. Bad news: That's now. Kickoff about 13. Wind chills around 0 or worse by end of game. #Packers #GBvsNE
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

The general impression as reported in the New England Pre-Game Show is that NE CB Darrell Revis will be covering Randall Cobb and Brandon Browner will be covering Jordy Nelson at the start of the game.
