Official Packers vs. Falcons Discussion Thread

Rodgers vs. Atlanta defense is a mismatch. Falcons are dead last in passing yards allowed. The one thing they do well is intercept passes, but Rodgers tends to negate that advantage. The Falcons have only 14 sacks, so Rodgers should have tons of time to throw.

Matt Ryan is having a pretty good year with 21 TD passes and 11 INT's. Julio Jones is healthy and had a monster game last week. They don't run the ball real well though, averaging 97 YPG. Steven Jackson is averaging 3.8 YPC.

Looks like a shootout game that the Packers should dominate.

I was just watching the men on NFL Access discuss the playoff Final scenario in the NFC.

I don't believe the Green Bay Packers need to be concerned about any team but themselves right now. The team has Atlanta at home MNF in Week 14 (My NO. 20th Ranked Team) then two consecutive weeks on the road Week 15 in Buffalo (Difficult.... My NO. 9 Ranked Team and on the road) and Week 16 in Tampa Bay (My NO. 32 Ranked team but it's on the road).

It's simply win Vs Atlanta and next up.

Finally in Week 17 we could get the very likely showdown game with the Detroit Lions.

Detroit has Tampa Bay and Minny in Weeks 14 and 15. Then their on the road to Chicago (Week 16) and at Packers in Week 17. This could be a huge game for not only the NFCN Title but the NO. 1 Seed in the NFC.

The charge for the NFCN and the #1 Seed in the NFC ensues this coming Monday night with the Atlanta Falcons in Lambeau Field. MM has to prepare his team the same way as he did for New England. We need to hope that the Packers can finish this game with a win and not get too banged up.

So next up is Atlanta and all chips have to be in. It's one game. One game at a time.

Trap game. Even though the Falcons can still win their miserable division, they know that they suck and will be playing as if they had nothing to lose. Packers are coming off an emotional win in their biggest game of the year, and will be drained. I expect to see a few uncharacteristic mistakes from ARod and a much closer than expected game. Hopefully it won't be a huge upset loss than ruins all of the team's good work in Oct and Nov.

I'm inclined to agree with hoosier. Stubby had the players sky high for the Patriots, so Atlanta with its poor record coming into town where we think we're invincible is a recipe for an emotional let down and an upset.

This game will test Stubby's skill at getting his guys ready to play. As a Super Bowl favorite the Packers have a target on their back. Atlanta has something to prove and will be motivated.

Now is not the time for the Packers to take their foot off the gas pedal and coast.

I expect Stubby will find a way to get this message across.

This game will test Stubby's skill at getting his guys ready to play. As a Super Bowl favorite the Packers have a target on their back. Atlanta has something to prove and will be motivated.

Now is not the time for the Packers to take their foot off the gas pedal and coast.

Atlanta has a LOT to play for even with their lousy record. They have to keep winning to stave off the Saints for that pitiful division. But Atlanta isn't the same team on the road compared to at home so if we don't mess up with penalties and turnovers we should take care of business at Lambeau.

I don't think road has any bearing, it's all about sequencing. A trap game is any time a good team faces a bad opponent right before or right after a game against a quality opponent. Tampa would not qualify as a trap game because there is no distraction looming on the horizon.

It's MM's job to ensure that the team is right minded after the possibly emotional win Vs New England. The next two game might be characterized as 'Trap Games'. The Packers should be OK at Home Vs Atlanta.

The next one on the road at Buffalo in Week 15 will be interesting. Buffalo has looked impressive the last two weeks. Their at Denver Broncos in Week 14. That will be a tough game and consideration has to be given to the result of that game for the matchup Vs the Packers @ Home in Week 15.

I don't think the Packers will take preparation lightly after Atlanta just toppled Arizona. The team also has plenty to work on after that Pats game, if anything I think their sense of urgency would be heightened. On the road this would be such a trap. It seems like home field advantage is going through a renaissance throughout the league this season. In Lambeau though this is not a trap. The Falcons are an inferior team, a warm weather dome team, coming to Lambeau and will be torn apart.

In 1996 and in 2010 we had a guy like him, an old hall of famer without a ring. You can't match a sense of urgency like that and having him around as a hungry leader is big.

There's also the classic Mike McCarthy December running game to look forward to but this time Rodgers is also having a run away MVP season. This team isn't going to lose at home and certainly not to the Falcons.

I referenced the Peppers effect on the team a few weeks ago. There is no doubt he can bring an extra-hungry veteran dimension to the locker room. The guy is smart too. I read where he challenges Capers with tough questions. This team still has a major upside to it.

I remember reading that early in the season. Something about how Peppers pointed something out that Capers hadn't considered or something like that.
