Early game day thread folks!
A scare last week vs the Falcons that I still don't understand. I get going vanilla and sitting back a bit, but letting JJ do what he did baffles me.
Packers are heavily favoured, with the line going as far as 5.5, but I don't see them taking this game lightly. Buffalo has a great defense, and will make life miserable. The Packers O line had better bring their A-game if they intend to keep Rodgers upright. Of course, if you watch this vine, you'll see that Rodgers does a pretty good job of keeping himself upright
However, the defensive front seven is about all the Bills have going for them. Secondary is so-so (benefiting greatly from pressure up front) is missing their starting free safety, and should be easy pickings.
Found something interesting on the defensive side at Football outsiders. The defense is rated in the top half of the league, IF you don't take into consideration yards gained by opponents in the 4th quarter when they're down by 17pts!
Orton is a turnover machine, so I expect our corners to make hay tomorrow. Watkins has been ok, and made some circus catches, but is playing over his head as the #1WR in Buffalo. Run game is in shambles, Jackson is the guy but he's missed time, and they seem to be happier throwing him the ball than handing off.
The injury fairy continues to smile on the Pack. Lattimore is no on the IR and Lacy got a little dinged up. House has been ruled out. Perry, Lang, Sitton, all the others are listed as probable! Overall, the injuries have stayed below a dull roar. edit: Shields not even listed
In other news, Mathews for a $10,000 bill for wearing white after labor day, having to pay a fine in that amount for wearing white cleats last week-end. What a rebel!
McCarthy is currently tied with Lombardi for wins. A win tomorrow moves him to 99, and into second place all time with the green and gold. Unless he wants to stick around for, oh, another decade, the first place number is well out of reach with Curly Lambeau's 212.
That's all, and here's to writing my 7th game day thread next week!
