Four of the five were deserving. They should just do away with selecting a FB for the Pro Bowl. Most teams barely use a FB anymore. Lacy and Cobb were deserving but probably rightfully omitted. Peppers and Lang have been solid. Williams a bit better than Shields. Bakhtiari is a bit of a head scratcher. Linsley and Daniels deserved a mention. Burnett hasn't played at a Pro Bowl level, but he's been solid. He leads all NFL DBs in solo tackles and total tackles. Also kind of interesting to see the all around production of Clay and Peppers. J.J. Watt has 11 pass deflections. Peppers has 11. Matthews has 9. Out of the top 35 sackers (7+ sacks), no others have more than 5 pass deflections. Peppers is the only one with 2+ interceptions. Only five have even one--Clay being one. Peppers has the second most forced fumbles amongst the group.

FB's and blocking TE's are evolving out of the modern NFL.

I mostly agree with this. The Pro Bowl is mostly about name recognition. Like the year that Jeff Saturday made the Pro Bowl and the Packers benched him during the season. Of those 5 I think Clay is the least deserving and I think Cobb got screwed. Kuhn may not be a superstar but he is one of the best FBs in the league (tough not to be when there are only a handful of true FBs in the league).Originally posted by HarveyWallbangers View PostFour of the five were deserving. I'm surprized ThunderDan that's your stance !
Do you disagree with Mike McCarthy who's saying that this season was Clay Matthews best?** Since 2006 3 X Pro Pickem' Champion; 4 X Runner-Up and 3 X 3rd place.

Why is that surprising? Clay has had a good season but hasn't jumped out as a Superstar to me this year. His production went up once he was moved to MLB. Clay had 2.5 sacks the first 8 weeks of the season and 5.5 the last three weeks.Originally posted by woodbuck27 View Post" Of those 5 I think Clay is the least deserving..." Thunderdan

Here is Clay's stat line for the first 8 games at OLB:
19 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 4 passes defensed, 1 INT and 2 forced fumbles
Clay's 7 games as MLB/OLB:
39 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 4 passes defensed, 0 INT and 0 forced fumblesBut Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

Mike McCarthy's assessment of Clay Matthews season (Article below). If I understand you? MM's praise of Clay Matthews is unwarranted based on Clay Matthews season as a whole.Originally posted by ThunderDan View PostWhy is that surprising? Is that correct ThunderDan?
Here's what I've seen. He's easily been the Packers most active and dominating defender. There's been some games he's clearly stood out and worked his craft all over the field. He's certainly one of the Packers best tacklers. He knows how to get to the ball....gets there.Last edited by woodbuck27; 12-24-2014, 11:08 AM.** Since 2006 3 X Pro Pickem' Champion; 4 X Runner-Up and 3 X 3rd place.

Clay deserves it. Kuhn has played 17% of the offensive snaps. The dude in Baltimore deserved it way more than Kuhn.Originally posted by ThunderDan View PostI mostly agree with this. I'd take him over Cobb in GB w/o question
I don't mind Cobb not making it....seeing it's a contract year and allTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Not saying Bakh isn't deserving of mention but I would say that Bulaga's been as good as Bakh. Bulaga's an elite RT and I hope Teddy can get him re-upped. Barclay is serviceable and a mauler but he's not Bulaga, particularly in pass pro holding up against elite rushers.
