  • Brandon494's 2015 Packers Mock Draft

1st round pick (30) Packers select: CB P.J. Williams FSU

Latest on S P.J. Williams including news, stats, videos, highlights and more on NFL.com

    NFL Comparison
    Stephon Gilmore

    Bottom Line
Cover cornerback with the talent to play on an island, and the swagger to regroup and forget when beaten. Williams can cover outside or from the slot, and has potential to come in and start right away for an aggressive man-cover defense. With consistency of effort, Williams could become the best cornerback to come out of this draft.
2nd round pick (62) Packers select: DT Michael Bennett Ohio St

Latest on DE Michael Bennett including news, stats, videos, highlights and more on NFL.com

    NFL Comparison
    Mike Daniels

    Bottom Line
Bennett is a disciplined, intelligent player who is a fit for teams looking for an upfield disruptor. He relies on his initial burst, hand usage and technique to win at the point of attack. Bennett has the potential to dominate sluggish or weak guards, but might have issues with true power guards in the NFL.
3rd round pick (94) Packers select: ILB Denzel Perryman Miami

Latest on MLB Denzel Perryman including news, stats, videos, highlights and more on NFL.com

    NFL Comparison
    D'Qwell Jackson

    Bottom Line
Early down linebacker who can make plays against the run but will struggle if isolated in coverage. Perryman is a lunch-pail worker who enjoys the physical part of the game. Can be a highly productive NFL player but ceiling looks to be limited.
4th round pick (126) Packers select: TE Ben Koyack Norte Dame

Latest on TE Ben Koyack including news, stats, videos, highlights and more on NFL.com

    NFL Comparison
    Luke Willson

    Bottom Line
Underutilized in the passing game while at Notre Dame. Strong understanding and execution as a run blocker with the physical traits to be a tough matchup in the passing game. Still raw as a receiver and will need more individual work with a position coach on the next level. College production belies his pro potential.

5th round pick (158) Packers select: HB Jeremy Langford Michigan St

Latest on RB Jeremy Langford including news, stats, videos, highlights and more on NFL.com

    NFL Comparison
    Donald Brown

    Bottom Line
Langford showed improvement from 2013 to 2014, but he doesn't accelerate through contact and will usually get what is blocked. Without an ability to maximize his yards with each carry, teams could peg him as a "committee back" with an ability to play on third downs.
6th round pick (190) Packers select: OT Austin Shepherd Bama

Latest on OT Austin Shepherd including news, stats, videos, highlights and more on NFL.com

    NFL Comparison
    Bradley Sowell

    Bottom Line
He can mirror in pass protection and takes good angles that help him get to his zone-blocking responsibilities. He's a worker bee who can use technique and effort to win more snaps than he should against more talented players. He can be an NFL backup with the potential to become a starter.
7th round pick (222) Packers select: WR Titus Davis Central Michigan

Latest on WR Titus Davis including news, stats, videos, highlights and more on NFL.com

    NFL Comparison
    Brian Hartline

    Bottom Line
Evaluators and teams might focus on Davis' lack of speed, but his ability to win with his routes should not be undersold. Davis has excellent ball skills and foot quickness and could be a terrific fit for a West Coast offense looking for an outside receiver who can make plays near the goal line.

You're missing the three comp picks. They'll be officially announced Monday.

looks good, but again, i would be shocked and ecstatic is perryman drops to us in the 3rd

and we probably need 2 ILB in the draft

for me, ILB is the only real must draft position, and we need to do it early and often. then on the next tier of "must do" positions would be the stretch TE and CB, but only if theres good value there

and its always good getting linemen on both sides in the mid rounds

Nice work Brandon. I agree with Red's assessment. Perryman probably won't make it to the third round. Curious, if he does make it to the third, but you're Green Bay knowing you're drafting at the end of the round, do you get concerned Perryman goes off the board and you have to go up and get him, or do you just have other options lined up? What's TT's track record with moving up?

At the normal positions, OL and TE.

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

                Koyack looks white to me.

Fresno St. kind of redeemed themselves by providing Adams. Anybody TT should be looking at?

Yea I was bored so wanted to do one for fun, will do a final mock draft a week or two before the actual draft. I'll most likely pick another ILB and CB with 2 of those 3 comp picks.

Brandon, I think you're on the right track. PJ Williams is the best starter-ready CB in the draft. I'm not enamored with Perryman. He's a big hitter but I can't see him covering Gronk. Bennett will do. I like the OT guy. Glad you chose a WR and RB too.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

well, heres the thing with the top ILBs in the draft, they all seem to have big holes, either in coverage or motivation, or they can't read plays, or can't tackle or whatever

theres only one guy i keep seeing that has no flaws in his game, and thats perryman. the only knock on him his that he's short and didn't show up at the combine looking like a greek god

the guy can cover. so do you draft a guy who can't cover, or has rarely ever tried to cover anyone? or do you draft a guy you know can cover, but might get out-jumped to a ball by a guy thats gonna out-jump everyone else that tries to cover him during the year?

The trouble is, red, the abilities change according to what analysis you read. For instance, Lance Zeirlien at the NFL Draft Tracker says this about Perryman:
Lacks coverage traits and is a liability in man coverage.
...college teams were already finding ways to go after him in the passing game." -- AFC East regional scout
The ILB's I've read about that have good coverage abilities are Paul Dawson, Erik Kendricks and, to a lesser extent, Stephone Anthony. Dawson and Anthony might last to our first round pick, but Dawson was slow at the combine and is, reportedly, tough to coach.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

its amazing that so many experts can watch the same game film and come away with so many different opinions. guess thats why the draft is a total crap shoot

heres the first game film i've found on perryman. you see a nice mix of good and bad in it

sometimes he looks good in coverage, other times horrible
